The Food and Beverage (F&B) Manager at Sonesta plays a pivotal role in embodying and promoting the company’s Culture of Caring. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years experience in food and beverage management, preferably in a hotel or restaurant setting
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proven ability to manage budgets and payroll
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to handle physical demands of the position
- Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Commitment to delivering exceptional guest service
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate, some college or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Banquet Manager or Assistant Restaurant Manager/Supervisor, preferably in a 4-star hotel or restaurant
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organization skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with Food and Beverage cost controls
- Ability to motivate restaurant staff and maintain a cohesive team
- Ability to suggestively sell menu items, beverages and wines
- Ability to endure abundant physical movements in carrying out job duties
Job Duties
- Coordinate, plan, prepare and execute food and beverage to the highest standards in food and beverage outlets and functions within the hotel
- Follow up on guest feedback
- Assist in hiring, training, promotion, and firing of all Food and Beverage employees
- Ensure all Sonesta safety and sanitation standards are adhered to, including all local liquor and food safety regulations
- Maintain thorough knowledge of all food and beverage offerings and coordinate with Chef of daily menus and educate the team
- Visibly work the floor to ensure flawless execution
- Inspect room and tables for proper set-up and cleanliness
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
- Ensure all closing duties for staff are completed before staff sign out
- Perform other duties and projects as requested by management
- Manage all aspects of the food and beverage service department
- Direct and complete scheduled inventories
- Prepare weekly work schedules in accordance with staffing guidelines and labor forecasts and adjust schedules throughout the week to meet business demands
- Coordinate details of upcoming functions with the Catering and Conventions Services managers
- Monitor payroll in the department ensuring meal breaks are taken and timecards are accurate
- Manage the operating budget and achieve all revenue and expense targets
- Actively participate and advise in the food and beverage budget and forecasting processes
- Conduct pre-shift meetings with staff and review all information pertinent to the day’s business
- Assist in annual performance evaluations of the team members
- Ensure employees are treated fairly and equitably
- Coach team by providing specific feedback to improve knowledge, skills, and performance
- Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with direct reports and the entire Food and Beverage team
- Utilize and collaborate with resources across different departments and corporate office
- Motivate employees to perform to their highest standard and establish a trusting environment to enrich the culture
