Job Description

The River Club of Jacksonville is one of the premier private clubs situated in Northeast Florida, renowned for its exceptional service and commitment to members' satisfaction. Currently, the River Club of Jacksonville is seeking a passionate and energetic individual to join their Food and Beverage (F&B) team as a Dining Room Manager. This is a pivotal role responsible for directing daily operations of the club’s dining rooms while maintaining exceptional member relations and the highest quality service standards. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in full-service restaurant management or private clubs, with a preference for banquet and fine dining expertise. The position requires adeptness in point of sale (POS) systems and a strong understanding of dining room and beverage operations including safety protocols, budgeting, employee relations, and vendor management.

The Dining Room Manager ensures that all dining experiences meet or exceed members’ expectations by overseeing service quality, cleanliness, and operational efficiency to maximize sales and profitability. This role involves recruiting, training, and supervising ala carte staff such as servers, captains, hostesses, bartenders, and dining room attendants. You will lead daily pre-shift meetings to motivate and educate staff and maintain continuous supervision throughout service hours. The position also includes managing inventory controls, overseeing beverage programs in compliance with company standards and state regulations, developing menus in collaboration with the Executive Chef, and maintaining accurate scheduling and labor cost controls to align with budget goals.

Furthermore, the role demands strong communication skills to foster open lines of communication between members, staff, vendors, and other departments. The manager must uphold stringent sanitation and safety standards, enforce company policies, and promote a positive, professional work environment. Familiarity with reservation, POS, purchase order, and labor management systems is essential to efficiently coordinate operations and maintain organized administrative records.

This is a varied schedule position requiring availability on weekends, holidays, and split shifts as necessary. Job Requirements

  • Minimum of two years experience as a full service restaurant manager or private club
  • Proficient in using point of sale (POS) systems
  • Working knowledge of dining room and beverage operations, including safety features
  • Ability to manage and train staff effectively
  • Familiarity with member relations and vendor relations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work varied schedules including weekends, holidays and split shifts
  • Maintain required certifications such as TIPS and Food Handlers/Manager certifications
  • Knowledge of state liquor laws and compliance
  • Ability to perform administrative tasks and maintain organized records

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Learn all of the items available for sale in the dining menus and assist members with food and beverage selections including wines
  • Supervise ala carte staff including recruitment, selection, orientation, training, and termination
  • Conduct daily pre-shift educational and motivational meetings
  • Circulate throughout the dining room during service hours to coach and direct staff
  • Coordinate monthly inventory of china and glassware impacting daily P&L
  • Count monthly beverage inventories and submit for auditing
  • Oversee daily scheduling to reduce labor costs following budget goals
  • Maintain sanitation and safety standards by training staff
  • Monitor beverage consumption compliance with company standards and state laws
  • Manage beverage purchasing, costs, and inventory controls
  • Collaborate with Executive Chef to create menus and special event offerings
  • Maintain and update POS, reservation, purchase order, and labor management systems
  • Submit monthly newsletter information on time
  • Maintain open communication with members, vendors, and departments
  • Attend training, safety courses and departmental meetings
  • Handle multi-line telephone system and manage member communication professionally
  • Enforce high standards of appearance, cleanliness, and service
  • Perform and delegate responsibilities to staff effectively
  • Evaluate systems, processes, and personnel to enhance efficiency
  • Arrive on time and maintain proper uniform and grooming
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by General Manager
