Job Description
Benchmark Education Company (BEC) is a premier publisher specializing in core, supplemental, and intervention literacy and language resources in both English and Spanish. Boasting valid and reliable digital assessments designed to inform educational instruction, BEC also offers outstanding professional development opportunities tailored for educators. The company is widely acknowledged as a responsive and innovative publisher that produces equally rigorous and engaging digital, print, and hybrid learning materials that are deeply rooted in the Science of Reading research. Benchmark Education Company closely monitors research outcomes to develop highly effective foundational resources, including materials focused on explicit and systematic decoding instruction, language development, and comprehension. Their authentic, content-rich texts promote close reading, critical analysis, exposure to multiple perspectives, and authentic literature, all while cultivating world knowledge and reflecting the diverse individuality of each student within a classroom setting.
Family owned and operated for over 25 years, BEC remains steadfast in its commitment to partnering with educators to provide exceptional resources, world-class professional learning, and dedicated customer support. Their unwavering dedication to quality and equity has established BEC as a trusted name in the education publishing industry. The company proudly maintains an inclusive workplace as an Equal Opportunity Employer.
The role of Food & Beverage Manager at Benchmark Education Company is a unique opportunity for an experienced culinary professional to join a dynamic corporate environment. This position entails serving as the personal chef to the C-Suite leadership team, preparing lunches and meals for meetings and company events, and managing all aspects of food and kitchen operations. The ideal candidate must demonstrate creativity, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work autonomously.
Working hours may vary based on the company’s meeting schedule, and occasional travel may be required to support special events. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $65,000 to $75,000, commensurate with experience, geographic location, education, and skill level.
As Food & Beverage Manager, the candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving meals for select staff and guests multiple days per week while adhering to budgetary constraints. This role demands careful management of the food and kitchen supply budget, menu development that balances nutrition, dietary needs, and employee preferences, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation.
Furthermore, the candidate will maintain rigorous food safety and sanitation protocols, oversee kitchen cleanliness and equipment maintenance, and handle larger group catering for significant company meetings involving up to 40 participants. Inventory management includes monitoring stock levels, tracking consumption patterns, and anticipating supply needs.
Purchasing duties involve shopping for groceries, snacks, beverages, and kitchen supplies, building vendor relationships, evaluating cost-effective purchasing solutions, and maintaining an organized pantry. Coordination with facilities and operations teams for equipment upgrades and repairs also falls under this role.
The Food & Beverage Manager will track spending, provide detailed receipts, and report expenditures to office management, always seeking cost-efficient solutions that do not compromise quality. Support for company events—including celebrations, lunches, and meetings that require catering or food setup—is integral to this position. Travel requirements approximate 10% of working time or as necessary to fulfill event needs.
This role is ideal for a culinary expert who is detail-oriented, capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment, and committed to delivering exceptional food experiences that support the company’s culture and operations, all while contributing to a thriving educational organization.
