Job Description
Idle Hour Country Club, founded in 1946, is a prestigious private, member-owned club located in Lexington, Kentucky. Renowned for its longstanding tradition, warm hospitality, and multi-generational community, the club prides itself on offering an exceptional and memorable experience to its members. Currently undergoing a significant clubhouse and kitchen renovation, Idle Hour is making strategic investments in its operational systems, standards, and leadership development with the goal of enhancing member experiences consistently and reliably. As a private club, Idle Hour Country Club provides a premium environment where members and their families can enjoy dining, social events, and recreational facilities in an atmosphere defined by quality and community values.
Dining at Idle Hour is central to the member experience and serves as a key visible touchpoint reflecting the club's commitment to excellence. With the ongoing enhancements to the facility, there is a heightened focus on leadership and operational systems that empower the service team to deliver outstanding hospitality without relying on last-minute crisis management or heroic efforts. The club is dedicated to building a culture that emphasizes preparation, consistency, and accountability.
The Food & Beverage Manager plays a pivotal role in this mission by acting as the on-the-floor dining room leader during all service periods. Reporting to the Service Director and collaborating closely with the General Manager/COO, Clubhouse Manager, F&B Service Director, Executive Chef, and front-of-house supervisors, this role ensures that all aspects of service execution align with the club's high standards. From lunch and dinner to special events, this manager is responsible for the smooth pacing of dining service, continuous support of the service team, and proactively addressing any operational issues before they impact members.
Entrusted with converting training, service standards, and operational systems into seamless real-time execution, the Food & Beverage Manager embodies the club's operational philosophy known as S.A.V.E.—Sense of Urgency, Attention to Detail, Vision, and Execute Excellence Every Time. This philosophy underscores the importance of maintaining focus, precision, and excellence throughout each shift, contributing to a consistent and exceptional member experience.
Key responsibilities include leadership on the dining room floor, ensuring proper table flow and section coverage, and providing hands-on guidance and coaching to servers, runners, and hosts. This role demands a highly visible leadership presence to monitor service execution closely, uphold operational discipline, and foster continuous improvement through real-time feedback and mentorship to team members. The Food & Beverage Manager also oversees operational readiness, staff coverage, shift accountability, and ensures that all standard operating procedures are meticulously followed.
Moreover, this role holds accountability for member satisfaction by engaging directly with members during service, resolving any service issues promptly using the H.E.A.T. service recovery model, and ensuring a welcoming and professional atmosphere that keeps members returning. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, calm, and decisive leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and values systematic execution over reactive problem-solving.
Idle Hour Country Club offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, eligibility for performance-based incentives, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, vision insurance, and 401(k) retirement plans. Additionally, the club supports professional development and continuing education, reflecting its commitment to employee growth and excellence. Candidates interested in joining this esteemed club are encouraged to submit a résumé and cover letter illustrating their relevant experience and alignment with the club’s values.
