The LifeCafe Leader plays a critical leadership role responsible for the overall performance and growth of a LifeCafe location. This position demands a hands-on leader who is actively involved with daily operations, working closely alongside team members to create a fast-paced, engaging, and high-touch environment. The LifeCafe Leader ensures that all front-of-house and back-of-house activities are executed flawlessly, adhering to Life Time’s high standards for food quality, customer service, and cleanliness. This role requires a strategic mindset to drive financial outcomes by managing budgets, cost controls, and key performance indicators such as labor and inventory costs.

In addition to operational management, the LifeCafe Leader is a people developer focused on hiring, training, and fostering team members who are motivated and aligned with the company’s growth-minded culture. They are responsible for creating an atmosphere that reflects Life Time’s core values of inclusivity, respect, and excellence. This leader must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure, managing scheduling complexities and meeting demanding business needs. The role requires flexibility with scheduling, including availability during days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

The position is best suited for someone with at least three years of leadership experience in fast-paced food or hospitality environments, alongside relevant safety certifications such as ServSafe and CPR/AED. Preferred qualifications include a college degree in culinary arts, business, or related fields, as well as experience as a chef or business owner, which brings additional insight into the culinary and operational side of the business.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Excellent knowledge of cost control, labor, reporting KPIs
  • Systems oriented and process minded with strong ability to develop and implement new systems for continuous improvement
  • Ability to handle pressure well and maintain composure in any situation

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in a fast-paced food or hospitality setting
  • ServSafe certification or equivalent
  • Alcohol safety certification if applicable
  • CPR/AED certification required within the first 30 days of hire
  • College degree in culinary, business, or related field preferred
  • Preferred chef/culinary experience
  • Prior or current business owner experience

Job Duties

  • Oversees front-of-house and back-of-house operations including inventory, scheduling, payroll, and adherence to operational policies
  • Works in "The Zone" alongside the team ensuring quality execution of menu items, accurate ticket times, and exceptional service
  • Manages business financials including P&L, budgeting, and cost controls for food, beverage, and labor
  • Hires, trains, develops, and motivates team members to build a high-performing, growth-minded team culture
  • Ensures compliance with all safety, cleanliness, and security protocols through regular inspection and coaching
