This Food & Beverage Manager position is offered at a distinguished hospitality venue affiliated with Hyatt, though the employing entity is a third-party management company. This role blends expertise in hotel and restaurant operations, focusing primarily on delivering superior guest experiences through the meticulous management of the Food & Beverage (F&B) department. The employer oversees the full spectrum of personnel and operational functions, ensuring adherence to Hyatt's elite standards and the specific policies of the SW Hotel. This management role is exempt status, indicating a salaried, full-time commitment. \n\nThe Food & Beverage Manager is charged with the daily operational leadership of the banquets department and various food and beverage outlets within the hotel. This includes overseeing service quality and guest satisfaction at all times. Critical to this role is the execution of Hyatt and SW Hotel standard operating procedures, aimed at providing an exceptional culinary and hospitality experience. The manager's duties encompass direct management responsibilities such as interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising banquet and outlet personnel. They also handle workforce coordination, ensuring efficient staffing aligned with event needs and business demands. \n\nA significant aspect of this role involves training, highlighting the importance of developing a knowledgeable and skilled team. The manager is responsible for maintaining communication channels, resolving guest complaints promptly, and addressing service shortcomings to uphold the venue's reputation. Banquet operations constitute approximately 80% of this role, involving oversight of banquet associates including captains, servers, and housepersons, in addition to legal adherence, payroll preparation, and event execution. The remaining 20% of responsibilities revolve around managing the daily operations of the food and beverage outlets, ensuring guest satisfaction, and maintaining compliance with health and safety standards. An intimate familiarity with all hotel services, policies, and operational reports supports effective decision-making and coordination across departments. \n\nThis role reports directly to the General Manager and supervises various front-of-house positions such as servers, bussers, bartenders, cashiers, and hosts. Strong leadership is essential, reinforced by excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays, and a collaborative spirit to foster a harmonious and efficient workplace. Proficiency in restaurant management software and Microsoft Office, with familiarity in MICROS being advantageous, supports operational efficiency. Candidates will have at least three years of food and beverage experience, ideally with banquet supervisory or managerial exposure, accompanied by relevant certifications including California Food Handler and TIPs Alcohol Certification. Physical stamina is required to meet the standing and lifting demands of the position. Job Duties
- Supervise and direct banquet associates including captains servers lead housepersons and houseperson
- Execute all banquet special events
- Conduct pre-event meetings and ensure event order (BEOs) are accurate and communicated
- Ensure client specifications and expectations are met or exceeded
- Work closely with Sales and Catering team to confirm event details
- Manage staffing levels schedules and payroll to ensure efficient operations
- Prepare and finalize banquet checks for clients and submit daily for income audit
- Train and develop assigned personnel to meet departmental responsibilities
- Effectively communicate and disseminate information to employees
- Assist Director of Food & Beverage in the F & B outlets during light or no event weeks
- Manage and control labor costs and payroll through effective scheduling
- Oversee daily outlet operations ensuring smooth and efficient service
- Address and resolve guest issues or concerns promptly and professionally
- Maintain visible presence on floor during peak dining times to engage with guests and oversee service quality
- Ensure restaurant ambiance cleanliness and overall atmosphere meet and exceed guest expectations
- Ensure compliance with health safety and sanitation regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned requested or necessary by management
- Maintain complete knowledge of all hotel features services hours of operation daily house count expected arrivals departures and department policies and procedures
- Analyze reports and communicate information to staff and appropriate departments
- Operate in compliance with all local state and federal laws and government regulations communicating effectively within departments to ensure good safety practices of associates
- Have a complete understanding of the company handbook and adhere to its rules and regulations
- Implement and support hotel policies and procedures
