The Food and Beverage Manager role at Woods Hole Golf Club is a vital leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of the club's food and beverage operations. This role demands an experienced and dynamic professional who can effectively manage dining services, supervise staff, control inventory, and ensure an exceptional member and guest experience. The position offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $30 to $40, commensurate with experience. As the Food and Beverage Manager, you will be instrumental in maintaining the club's reputation for high-quality dining and superior service by coordinating closely with kitchen staff and other departments.

Key responsibilities include managing reservations, greeting and seating members and guests, hiring and training dining staff, resolving service complaints, and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of dining areas. The manager will also be responsible for budget monitoring, adjusting labor and supply usage, and compliance with all health, safety, and alcoholic beverage service regulations. Serving as the liaison between dining room and kitchen staff, the manager plays a strategic role in menu updates and daily operations. This role requires strong leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays. The successful candidate must hold relevant food safety and alcoholic beverage certifications and maintain a professional demeanor conducive to the club’s high standards.

Job Requirements

  • Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages
  • food safety certification

  • ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, stretching and twisting
  • ability to push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds
  • ability to perform continuous repetitive motions
  • ability to work in hot, humid and noisy environments

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Food and Beverage Manager or similar role in the hospitality industry
  • strong leadership and team management skills
  • excellent knowledge of food and beverage operations, including inventory management and cost control
  • familiarity with health and safety regulations and compliance standards
  • outstanding customer service and communication skills
  • ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Takes reservations, checks table reservation schedules, maintains reservations log, and designs floor plans accordingly
  • greets and seats members and guests
  • hires, trains, supervises, schedules and evaluates dining room staff
  • receives and resolves complaints concerning dining room service
  • serves as liaison between the dining room and kitchen staff
  • assures that all side-work is accomplished and that all cleaning of equipment and storage areas is completed according to schedule
  • directs pre-meal meetings with dining room personnel
  • assures the correct appearance, cleanliness and safety of dining room areas, equipment and fixtures
  • trains staff on all aspects of the POS system
  • assures that the dining room and other club areas are secure at the end of the business day
  • monitors dining room labor and supplies budget
  • makes adjustments to achieve financial goals
  • may serve as club’s opening and closing manager or manager on duty
  • works with Executive Chef to update, review and print weekly menu changes
  • assures that local and state laws and the club’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed
  • performs other appropriate assignments and projects as required by the General Manager
