The role of Food & Beverage Manager at Sheraton Philadelphia University City Hotel presents a unique and exciting opportunity to contribute to the success and profitability of the hotel’s vibrant food and beverage operations. Reporting directly to the department head, the Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for assisting in the comprehensive oversight of all food and beverage activities, ensuring compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol awareness standards. This leadership position demands a constant focus on maintaining high standards of food and beverage quality, exceptional customer service, and effective marketing strategies to drive maximum profit and guest satisfaction.
In this multifaceted role, the Food & Beverage Manager plays a critical part in the recruitment, training, supervision, coaching, scheduling, and overall management of the food and beverage team. The manager maintains an in-depth working knowledge of all food and beverage positions, including food preparation, cocktail service, and wine inventory management, ensuring consistency in product quality and service delivery. Beyond operational management, the Food & Beverage Manager also engages in strategic initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction, promote repeat customer service through quality offerings, and creatively address unusual customer requests. The manager ensures compliance with company policies regarding employee appearance and procedures for securing moneys, while maintaining clean and organized work areas. This position also demands flexibility to perform cross-training duties, oversee banquet functions including room setups and equipment inventory, and respond effectively to guest complaints or special requests. Regular reporting to the General Manager on the food and beverage department status is an integral function of this role.

- meet minimum age requirement of jurisdiction
- require 8th grade math level
- require high school reasoning level

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prefer two to three years of fine dining experience
- prefer two years banquet management experience
- previous supervisory or management experience
- food and beverage service worker permit where applicable
- ability to communicate effectively with public and employees
- knowledge of food preparation and service
- basic bar terminology and wine service knowledge
Job Duties
- Assist department head in oversight of food and beverage activities
- ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation and alcohol awareness standards
- interview, train, supervise, coach, schedule and manage staff
- maintain food and beverage quality and service standards
- monitor budget and maximize department profitability
- maintain wine and beverage inventory
- direct restaurant and lounge operations
