The Food & Beverage team at Target plays a vital role in maintaining the freshness, availability, and proper presentation of food products across the store. This team is responsible for ensuring that items are stocked accurately, priced correctly, and compliant with food safety standards. Members of this team are experts in managing all aspects of food operations, including replenishment, inventory accuracy, quality assurance, and promotional activities.

As a Food & Beverage Expert at Target, you are entrusted with the responsibility to provide outstanding guest service by creating an inviting and fresh shopping environment. This dynamic role requires balancing various tasks such as product delivery acceptance, inventory management, food safety compliance, merchandising, and customer engagement. You will develop comprehensive knowledge of food safety protocols, seasonal trends, and purchasing patterns to advise guests effectively on product selection and storage. Your ability to execute precise food handling and merchandising procedures ensures the highest standards of quality and compliance are met at all times.

The role also offers invaluable experience in understanding the food retail business fundamentals, including sales trends, pricing strategies, and guest shopping behaviors. You will engage in collaborative work with vendors to maintain appealing product displays and organized storage areas, further enhancing the guest’s shopping experience. Additionally, you will participate in promoting products through sampling and suggestive selling, contributing directly to sales growth.

A typical day involves interacting warmly with guests, solving their queries, and making their shopping experience enjoyable while upholding Target’s core values and food safety standards. You will be expected to adapt to varying work schedules with shifts that might include nights, weekends, and holidays, demonstrating flexibility and resilience in a fast-paced environment. Job Requirements

  • Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
  • Climb up and down ladders
  • Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely including lifting merchandise up to 44 pounds
  • Flexible work schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Reliable and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work in environments ranging from 34°F to -10°F
  • Ability to work where common allergens may be present
  • Ability to remain mobile for entire shift
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Previous food or grocery experience preferred but not required
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Attention to detail and follow multi-step processes
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Deliver an exceptional guest experience
  • Uphold and maintain the execution of the Food & Beverage Standards
  • Execute food and beverage processes including deliveries, replenishment, straightening merchandise, in-stocks routines, data accuracy, culling, rotation, cleaning, signing and organizing and storing reserve product
  • Follow all food safety requirements as outlined in Target's policies and procedures
  • Use sampling and suggestive selling to promote products and increase sales
  • Work with vendors to set and maintain merchandise displays and organized backroom space
  • Locate and identify damaged, recalled or expired items and process according to policies
