The Executive Chef at Senior Star holds a pivotal role in delivering an exceptional dining experience for all residents across different care levels. This full-time position offers an annual salary of $70,000 to $75,000, reflecting the critical responsibility of managing all kitchen and food service operations. The Executive Chef oversees production personnel and ensures the kitchen operates efficiently and safely, specializing in senior community dining which requires attention to dietary needs and preferences. This role demands creativity and leadership in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation, ensuring meals meet high standards of taste, nutrition, and appearance. The Executive Chef also collaborates closely with the Executive Director and Food & Beverage Director to develop innovative food service programs that align with Senior Star’s mission and values. Beyond culinary expertise, the individual must manage inventory, maintain budget adherence, and oversee catering services for both internal functions and external events. They are responsible for ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and vendor standards while contributing to the community’s overall success through exceptional food services. This position requires flexibility in scheduling to cover dining room responsibilities seven days a week and a dedication to enhancing the quality of life for Senior Star residents through superior culinary leadership.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in healthcare or senior living food service
  • proven track record in kitchen management
  • strong organizational skills
  • ability to work varied hours including weekends

Job Duties

  • Provide a high-quality dining experience
  • supervise food services program that meets and exceeds senior community requirements
  • prepare menus and food products following meal presentation standards
  • serve meals promptly and professionally
  • ensure proper timing, temperature, and garnishing of food items
  • produce food for independent, assisted, and memory care housing segments
  • manage catering services both in-house and external
  • maintain accurate food and supply inventory
  • plan dietary food services program incorporating varied tastes
  • follow prime food vendor regulations
  • coordinate with Executive Director and Food & Beverage Director on menu planning
  • maintain proper records including meal cost summaries
  • adhere to budget guidelines
  • purchase food, kitchen supplies, and equipment competitively
  • manage food production and sanitation within expense guidelines
  • assist in developing revenue-enhancing food and catering opportunities
  • prepare meals using provided recipes
  • use equipment safely
