Job Description
Shaner Hotels is a leading award-winning hospitality owner-operator and management company known for its dedication to excellence and innovation within the hotel industry. With a diverse portfolio featuring over 65 full-service, select-service, extended-stay, and resort properties, Shaner Hotels operates more than 7,500 rooms across 14 states and four countries. The company prides itself on its partnerships with top hospitality brands, serving a wide variety of clients including independent hotel locations, investors, property owners, and brands. Its comprehensive services include hotel development, design and construction, e-commerce solutions, and revenue management, all aimed at maximizing the success and profitability of its properties.
The Buffalo Marriott LECOM HARBORCENTER, part of the Shaner Hotels family, is a premier 205-room property located in the vibrant Canalside Entertainment District of downtown Buffalo, just off the I-190. This property is uniquely positioned adjacent to the Key Bank Center, the proud home of the NHL Buffalo Sabres, and features a striking seventh-floor restaurant and bar that offers breathtaking views of Lake Erie and the iconic Buffalo skyline. The hotel’s location and amenities make it a central hub for guests seeking both leisure and business accommodations in the heart of Buffalo.
As the Food and Beverage Director at Buffalo Marriott LECOM HARBORCENTER, you will hold a vital leadership role overseeing all food and beverage operations within this bustling, upscale environment. The role is a full-time position offering a competitive salary range of $85,000 to $95,000, supplemented by a 15% performance-based bonus, with salaries commensurate with experience. This role demands a highly skilled professional equipped to manage service outlets, catering, and kitchen operations while fostering a strategic partnership with the sales department to ensure maximum profitability.
Your responsibilities will extend to directing personnel, enforcing policies and procedures, maintaining robust budget controls, and guaranteeing compliance with health and safety standards. You will be pivotal in establishing and sustaining standards for operational excellence, conducting staff training, and reinforcing safe working conditions throughout the department. Your leadership will also focus on setting financial targets and aligning the Food and Beverage Department's goals with the broader property objectives.
Daily tasks encompass ensuring consistency in food and beverage quality, overseeing preparation and service aligned with hotel and franchise specifications, and managing guest satisfaction through prompt and effective resolution of issues. Collaboration with the General Manager and other department heads is critical to maintaining smooth operations and delivering superior guest experiences.
The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of relevant experience in a similar capacity, demonstrating a proven ability to communicate effectively with guests, management teams, and colleagues alike. Educational qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for candidates holding degrees in hospitality management, business, or culinary arts. Certification in Safe Food Handling is mandatory, alongside a working knowledge of sales and marketing tools and food and beverage cost controls. Proficiency in reading and interpreting operational documents such as Banquet Event Orders (B.E.O.s), safety regulations, and procedure manuals is essential. Bilingual candidates fluent in English and Spanish will find this a distinct advantage.
Key to success in this role is the flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, adapting to the dynamic needs of the hotel's operations. The position represents a unique opportunity to join a respected industry leader in a high-profile hotel setting that values entrepreneurial leadership, operational expertise, and a commitment to guest satisfaction.
Benefits of employment include comprehensive health insurance, paid time off, eight paid holidays annually, Marriott hotel discounts applicable at any Marriott property, two complimentary night stays per year at any Shaner Hotel property, and one complimentary meal per shift worked. The property’s convenient access to public transportation routes further enhances its appeal as a workplace and destination. This role offers not only a rewarding career path but also the chance to contribute significantly to a high-performing team dedicated to delivering exceptional hospitality experiences.
