This full-time, day position offers a dynamic and important leadership role within the Dining Services department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team dedicated to delivering outstanding food service to senior residents. This role requires leading by example in work ethic, adherence to uniform guidelines, and fostering respect among staff and residents alike. The position involves enforcing company policies, collaborating with other departments to promote community growth, and continuously working to improve the resident dining experience. The role demands excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as a commitment to food safety and compliance with regulatory standards. By managing hiring, staff training, scheduling, inventory, and budgeting within the Dining Services team, the manager will play a pivotal part in ensuring quality and consistency in all aspects of food operations. Additionally, the role includes supporting marketing efforts, overseeing equipment maintenance, and using technology such as scheduling software and point-of-sale systems to maintain efficiency. A strong culinary background combined with leadership experience in a kitchen environment is essential for success in this role. Job Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in a kitchen managerial position
  • Culinary Arts degree or related degree
  • Experience managing and leading a staff of 15+ employees
  • Previous experience working with older adults
  • Knowledge of state food-handling and kitchen regulations
  • Ability to operate kitchen appliances and office equipment
  • Understanding of business principles related to budgets, invoicing, inventory, and hiring practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary Arts degree
  • 5+ years experience in kitchen management
  • Experience leading and managing a large team
  • Previous work experience with older adults
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to ensure compliance with state and local food and health codes
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Basic knowledge of budgeting and marketing principles
  • Ability to use scheduling software and point-of-sale systems

Job Duties

  • Lead crews in all aspects of food service and preparation, both front-of-the-house and back-of-the-house, expecting thorough and timely completion of tasks from all crew members
  • Communicate openly and work intricately with various levels of team members, directing and training patiently, as needed
  • Understand the job description and duties of each position within the department
  • Responsible for wage and salaries of those under your supervision within company and community guidelines, and in keeping with budgetary requirements
  • Responsible for hiring and discipline practices of those under your supervision, as directed by the Executive Director and within corporate guidelines
  • Assist in monitoring staff and safe food handling procedures including but not limited to receiving of food, storage, preparation and proper cooling and reheating of all food products
  • Responsible for scheduling of staff using designated scheduling software but may delegate scheduling duties, as needed
  • Ensure the success of outside marketing events, in-house marketing and activities and additional catering events as needed, following proper forms and paperwork protocol
  • Uphold department and company standards while requiring team members to do the same
  • Aid in the timely upkeep of equipment and oversee repairs and maintenance
  • Assist Executive Director in planning future Dining Services budgets
  • Track, record, and maintain inventory stock including foods, beverages, and kitchen supplies
  • Hold regularly scheduled staff meetings communicating upcoming events and discuss ongoing training as needed
  • Effectively communicate with corporate dining services team
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and creative problem solving where necessary
  • Report any on-the-job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs
  • Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, team members, and community operations
  • Adhere to state and county regulatory compliance, ensuring all temperatures and sanitizing logs are in Tels
  • Utilize meez recipe program for daily recipes to ensure consistency
  • Ensure the proper use of Revel POS and provide ongoing Revel training for team members
  • Other duties as assigned
