Position Summary:
The Bartender role at Hornblower Group is vital in delivering an outstanding guest experience through quality beverage preparation and exceptional hospitality. This position involves mixing high-quality beverages using precise recipes and providing prompt, consistent bar service to guests and coworkers. The bartender is expected to embody Hornblower’s RESPECT Service System by being hospitable, courteous, and professional. Knowledge about the vessel and the skyline enhances the bartending experience and helps engage guests more effectively.
This role requires a commitment to safety, responsibility, and cleanliness of the service areas, including the bar and all surrounding environments. Bartenders maintain full operational readiness by stocking the bar according to specifications, cleaning equipment and bar areas, accurately managing transactions, and effectively communicating menu offerings and entertainment details. The position demands a multi-tasking capability, attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic cruise environment. Availability for shifts during nights, weekends, and holidays is essential, reflecting the high-demand hospitality industry standards. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum one year bartending experience required
- Comprehensive knowledge of beverage recipes required
- Strong customer service skills required
- Strong organization and interpersonal skills required
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously required
- Effective listening and problem-solving skills required
- Working knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office required
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and guests required
- Maintain compliance with uniform and grooming standards required
- Availability to work nights, weekends and major holidays required
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate
- At least one year of previous bartending experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of beverage recipes
- Strong customer service skills

- Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects at one time
- Effective listening and assessment skills
- Working knowledge of computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites
- Ability to understand and convey written and verbal information to coworkers and guests

- Availability to work nights, weekends and all major holidays
Job Duties
- Provide exceptional hospitality to guests and coworkers as prescribed in Our RESPECT Service System
- Accurately follow recipes for all beverages
- Must have thorough knowledge of all beverage offerings and prices
- Provide prompt and consistent bar service to guests and servers throughout the cruise
- Set up and break down bar - stock and restock bar according to prescribed par specifications, clean bar thoroughly in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the bar and all common areas and service stations, clean glasses, utensils, bar equipment, bar tops, refrigerators, and all other equipment and work areas
- Accurately charge guests for onboard purchases
- enter order into the point-of-sale system, collect payment and return all change
- Provide information to guests including beverage and food menu descriptions, entertainment options, cruise routes and points of interest
