As one of the best urban parks and recreation systems in North America, Rockford Park District operates with a commitment to excellence, equity, and a community-driven vision. Their mission is focused on helping people enjoy life by offering quality park and recreation services that elevate community wellness, encourage active lifestyles, and ensure accessible, enjoyable environments for people of all ages and backgrounds. The agency fosters an inclusive atmosphere that embraces diversity and welcomes all, supporting a culture of respect, innovation, integrity, and passion among its team members. Their leadership by values philosophy emphasizes accountability, agility, relationship orientation, and results-driven service, supporting a cohesive and motivated workforce. The Rockford Park District prioritizes strategic vision and planning, ensuring all resources and actions are aligned with their mission to provide an excellent park experience for the residents they serve.
The Food & Beverage Associate position at the Rockford Park District offers an exciting opportunity to join their Food & Beverage department on a seasonal basis. This role is based at Sportscore One and Sportscore Two, prominent facilities within the district known for hosting a variety of sports and recreational events. As a Food & Beverage Associate, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service, assisting with food preparation and service, and maintaining cleanliness in the food service areas across the Rockford Park District. The hourly wage for this position is $15, and the work schedule includes up to 20 hours per week, with availability required during nights, weekends, and holidays due to the dynamic nature of the activities hosted at the facilities.
As a Food & Beverage Associate, your core responsibilities will include adhering to all proper food handling and safety regulations as mandated by the State of Illinois and the Winnebago County Health Department. You will be expected to maintain high standards of food preparation, safety, hygiene, and cleanliness to promote a positive dining experience for guests. Effective communication skills are essential for this role, as you will interact daily with guests, providing friendly, courteous service and accurate facility information. Collaborating closely with supervisory staff and team members is crucial to ensure inventory demands are met, concerns are addressed promptly, and daily operational tasks are completed efficiently. Handling cash transactions accurately and following established protocols will also be part of your duties.
Given the nature of working in a fast-paced food service environment within the park district, associates often work unusual hours including evening private parties, with the potential exposure to various weather conditions as many tasks are performed outdoors. The position demands physical stamina, requiring the ability to handle moderate physical activity such as lifting, standing, walking, and repetitive hand movements. If you are 21 years or older, there is also a requirement and opportunity to sell alcohol by attaining the Illinois Basset Certificate Training.
Overall, the Food & Beverage Associate is a crucial team member who supports the Rockford Park District’s commitment to exceptional service, community engagement, and operational excellence. This role is ideal for individuals who are creative, energetic, customer-focused, and eager to contribute positively to a vibrant community-serving organization that values diversity and inclusion in all aspects of its operations.
