Job Description

The Nottingham is Central New York's premier retirement community, dedicated to providing an exceptional living environment for retirees seeking comfort, care, and a vibrant community life. With a strong reputation for quality service and compassionate care, The Nottingham offers residents an engaging and supportive atmosphere where every individual is valued and respected. Established to meet the evolving needs of older adults, this community blends modern amenities with a warm, home-like setting. Residents enjoy beautifully maintained living spaces, attentive staff, and a wide array of activities designed to promote wellness, social connection, and personal fulfillment. This retirement community is committed to enhancing the quality of life for seniors through attentive service, innovative programs, and a culture of dignity and respect.

The Nottingham is currently expanding its team and looking for per diem Support Service Workers to join their dining services staff. This role is vital in creating a positive dining experience for residents by ensuring that meal service is both attentive and enjoyable. Working in a dynamic, resident-focused environment, Support Service Workers are responsible for taking meal orders, delivering food, and providing courteous service during both daily dining and catered events. This position emphasizes strong interpersonal skills, attentiveness, and flexibility to accommodate the varied needs and preferences of residents.

Support Service Workers at The Nottingham are expected to provide full-service dining experiences, including the polite and timely delivery of each course, clearing tables between courses, and resetting dining areas after meals. This role also includes performing various housekeeping duties and participating actively in opening and closing side work to maintain a clean and welcoming dining environment. Working in this role requires enthusiasm, excellent communication skills, and the ability to interact warmly with guests, answering questions, and making menu recommendations when appropriate.

Employment for this position is on a per diem basis, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work shifts that fit various schedules, including evenings, weekends, special events, and some holidays. The hourly pay ranges from $19.42 to $19.76, reflecting the value The Nottingham places on skilled service workers. The community is located in an area not served by public transit, so reliable transportation is necessary. Availability from 4 to 8 pm is preferred, but shifts may vary. While a high school diploma or GED is not required, the ability to read, write, and comprehend English well is essential.

This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a team-oriented setting and enjoy engaging with people while supporting their comfort and satisfaction. The Nottingham offers a supportive work environment with opportunities for career growth across its 19 sites, ensuring that motivated employees can advance their careers within the community. Employees benefit from excellent medical, dental, vision, and prescription insurance plans along with other advantages such as disability coverage and a tuition reimbursement program. Additional perks include a 401(k) retirement plan, discounted gym membership, paid time off, fun employee events, free parking, and access to employee coaches for personal and professional development. There is also a Diaper Assistance Program to support employees' families.

Overall, The Nottingham’s per diem Support Service Worker position provides a meaningful job opportunity for individuals interested in the hospitality and senior care industries, offering competitive pay, flexible schedules, and a nurturing work culture that values each employee's contributions and well-being.
