Job Description
The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation is a prestigious tribal community with ancestral roots tracing back centuries. Originally a community dependent on farming, hunting, and fishing, the Sycuan Tribe has evolved while maintaining a strong sense of community and cultural heritage. Today, the Tribe governs its Reservation and operates multiple successful business ventures including a state-of-the-art Casino and an acclaimed Golf Resort located in the San Diego region. Beyond its business operations, Sycuan stands as a community where employees feel part of a larger family working collaboratively towards shared goals. The Tribe is committed to fostering an environment that values tradition, innovation, and outstanding guest service.
The role of Resort Food and Beverage Supervisor at Sycuan is a critical leadership position focused on overseeing the daily operations of the Resort’s food and beverage outlets. This management role requires an individual who can effectively supervise and guide food and beverage staff while upholding the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction. The Supervisor ensures that all operational procedures are efficiently maintained and that the guest dining experience is not only consistent but exceptional. Responsibilities include enforcing responsible alcohol service policies, maintaining sanitary conditions, and ensuring the proper stocking and upkeep of restaurant equipment and supplies. This role also emphasizes team development, requiring the Supervisor to identify ongoing training needs and foster a positive and professional work environment.
This position demands excellent communication skills to interact with team members and guests effectively, the ability to multitask and prioritize competing responsibilities, and proficiency with point-of-sale systems and basic office tasks. The Supervisor role also necessitates physical stamina, able to stand and walk for extended periods, lift heavy items, and perform various physical tasks essential to daily operations. Working hours may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays, reflecting the dynamic nature of the hospitality industry.
Candidates for this role are expected to hold a high school diploma or GED, possess ServSafe Manager and California ABC Responsible Beverage Service certifications, and have a minimum of one year of relevant supervisory experience in the food and beverage industry. Additional qualifications such as a culinary degree or completion of Sycuan’s Supervisory Certificate Program are desirable and will enhance a candidate’s suitability.
By joining Sycuan, employees become part of a deeply rooted cultural community committed to delivering memorable experiences to guests. The tribe offers more than just a job; it provides an opportunity to be part of a thriving community that values collaboration, professional growth, and respect for its rich heritage. If you are motivated to lead a team and contribute to an exceptional guest experience within an innovative and culturally significant setting, the Resort Food and Beverage Supervisor position at Sycuan is an excellent career opportunity.
