Job Description

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, located in Bentonville, Arkansas, is a premier cultural institution dedicated to celebrating the rich and diverse American spirit through exceptional artistic expressions. Founded in 2005 by philanthropist and arts patron Alice Walton, the museum opened its doors in 2011 as a public, non-profit charitable organization that offers free admission to inspire and educate visitors of all backgrounds. The museum actively collects, exhibits, interprets, and preserves outstanding works that illuminate the American heritage and the unfolding artistic possibilities. It is nestled in a stunning natural setting, blending the power of art with the beauty of Arkansas’s landscape. This unique combination provides visitors with a multi-sensory experience that transcends traditional museum visits, offering imaginative engagement with art alongside immersive encounters in nature.

In addition to Crystal Bridges, the affiliated contemporary art space The Momentary, which opened in 2020 in downtown Bentonville, champions contemporary art's role in everyday life. It offers visual, performing, and culinary arts that explore new ideas within an international context, further enriching the cultural landscape of the region. Together, these institutions serve as hubs for culture, education, and community connection.

The FOH Shift Lead, Hospitality, is a vital role within Crystal Bridges that directly contributes to delivering an exceptional guest experience across its hospitality operations. Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Outlets & Beverage, this full-time, non-exempt position is responsible for leading the Front of House (FOH) team, coordinating daily operations during assigned shifts, and ensuring seamless service. The role includes oversight of various service roles such as lunch and dinner servers, baristas, bartenders, and event servers. The Shift Lead is a hands-on leader who participates in service duties as needed, including preparing beverages, serving meals, and supporting event execution.

Key responsibilities include maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the restaurant's operations, menus, and specials, ensuring cleanliness and safety in lobby and dining areas, completing assigned opening and closing duties with accountability, and fostering positive communication between FOH and Back of House (BOH) teams. The Shift Lead actively mentors and trains team members to uphold high service standards and a collaborative work environment. Skillful management of guest interactions, quick and professional resolution of inquiries or complaints, and adherence to health, safety, and sanitation regulations are also essential. Additionally, the role involves preparing shift schedules to ensure proper staffing and assisting with event setups and teardowns.

Candidates for this position must be at least 21 years old, with strong interpersonal skills, a passion for customer service, and comprehensive knowledge of service steps and dining room procedures. Physical stamina is necessary due to the demands of standing, bending, lifting, and carrying trays over extended periods. The position offers a dynamic work environment within a world-class museum complex, providing opportunities to contribute meaningfully to cultural and hospitality excellence in a vibrant community. Those who excel in this role will help create memorable and welcoming experiences for all museum visitors, supporting Crystal Bridges' mission to unite art and nature while enriching the visitor journey with exceptional hospitality.
