Job Description
ABM is a global leader in facility services, distinguished by its dedication to creating cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environments. As one of the world’s largest providers of facility solutions, ABM serves a diverse array of industries including commercial office buildings, universities, airports, hospitals, data centers, manufacturing plants, entertainment venues, and distribution centers. With annual revenue approaching 8 billion dollars and a workforce exceeding 100,000 employees spread across the United States, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, and other international locations, ABM has established itself as a trusted partner in facility management. Founded in 1909, ABM’s comprehensive suite of services includes janitorial, engineering, parking, electrical and lighting, energy and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, HVAC and mechanical, landscape and turf, and mission critical solutions.
The role of Tech for maintaining and upkeeping carpet and hard surface floors is vital within ABM’s janitorial and facility management teams. This position is ideal for individuals entering or re-entering the workforce, especially for those with limited previous experience or education. ABM emphasizes supporting military veterans and encourages candidates with military experience to apply, particularly aligning with Military Occupational Specialty Codes 92S, 92Y, LS, and DC. The role focuses on cleaning and maintaining buildings and facilities, following protocols for chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures. The technician is responsible for executing numerous janitorial and maintenance duties such as cleaning furniture, fixtures, floors, ceilings, walls, machines, and equipment, as well as handling interior glass, windows, blinds, trash removal, seasonal outdoor tasks, and restroom servicing.
Safety is paramount; the technician must comply with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards set forth by ABM, clients, and regulatory authorities. Effective communication and relationship building with clients, coworkers, supervisors, and managers are also crucial elements of the role to ensure smooth operations and client satisfaction. ABM provides on-the-job training and does not require prior experience or formal educational credentials like a high school diploma or GED, making this a feasible entry-level opportunity. The company also offers a comprehensive benefits package for its frontline team members, underscoring its commitment to employee welfare.
This role at ABM is more than just routine cleaning; it is an opportunity to contribute to a healthier, well-maintained environment that supports the day-to-day functions of clients’ facilities. Prospective employees will find a supportive, military-friendly employer with pathways for growth and development, backed by the resources and stability of a large multinational with a century-long history.
