The Floor Technician position is an hourly role with a competitive wage range of $12 to $15 per hour. The work schedule is Monday through Friday with alternating Saturdays, during the morning to early afternoon shift from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This role is essential to maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the entire senior living community, ensuring that floors and common areas are pristine and well-maintained. Under the general direction of the Environmental Services Director, the Floor Tech is responsible for cleaning, polishing, and vacuuming all types of floors throughout the facility as outlined in daily task sheets and as assigned by supervisors. This includes vacuuming carpets, buffing and waxing tile floors, and shampooing carpets and furniture in resident apartments and offices.
The successful candidate for this position will be an integral part of the Environmental Services team, contributing to a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This position demands attention to detail, effective time management, and the ability to follow instructions carefully. The Floor Tech must be capable of maintaining equipment and supplies, assisting in training new team members, and participating in ongoing professional development and training sessions. The role fosters a culture of hospitality, emphasizing courteous and respectful interactions with residents, coworkers, and guests. Job Requirements
- Have at least a 9th grade education
- Six months to one-year experience housekeeping and/or cleaning
- Must have effective communication skills, both oral and written
- Must maintain resident confidentiality at all times
- Must have an understanding of general cleaning practices
- Must be able to complete required duties within time allowed
- Have the ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively
Job Qualifications
- At least a 9th grade education
- Six months to one-year experience in housekeeping and/or cleaning
- Previous floor maintenance experience preferred but not required
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively
- Ability to maintain resident confidentiality
- Ability to complete required duties within time allowed
Job Duties
- Maintains floors and carpets within the community
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, buff, shampoo, and wax all floor surfaces in the common areas
- Shampoo carpets and furniture in resident apartments and offices
- Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned
- Picks up and removes major trash from the community
- Clean and wash entrances, doors, windows, elevators, stair wells, hand rails, and walls
- Maintains all equipment and supplies in proper condition
- Assist in training new floor tech personnel
- Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
