Job Description

Blakehurst is a distinguished Life Plan Community located on an expansive 40-acre campus in Towson, Maryland, near Baltimore. Blakehurst is currently seeking a full-time Floor Technician (Porter) to join their Environmental Services Department. This position requires working the evening shift from 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, five days per week, including alternating weekends and holidays. The pay range for this important role is $16.50 to $18.50 per hour. The Floor Technician will play a critical role in maintaining the community’s high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and attractive environment for the residents.

The Floor Technician at Blakehurst will be responsible for maintaining floors and carpets, managing trash removal, and ensuring the upkeep of equipment and supplies. The role also involves assisting with event set-ups and breakdowns to support community functions and resident programs. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three to six months experience in housekeeping or custodial position preferred
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions and communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment and cleaning chemicals/solvents and demonstrated ability to work safely with them
  • Can learn the methods of cleaning and caring for buildings and equipment
  • Work as a team member in a structured working environment
  • Can handle multiple tasks and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Three to six months experience in housekeeping or custodial position preferred

  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicals and ability to use them safely
  • Ability to work as a team member in a structured environment

Job Duties

  • Exemplify at all times community standards of cleanliness, sanitation and organization
  • Maintains floors and carpets
  • Picks up and removes trash
  • Maintains all equipment and supplies in proper condition
  • Assists with set-ups and break down for resident functions, programs and community events
  • Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
