Job Description

We are currently seeking a Floor Supervisor & Bartender to join our Front of House team at our Santa Rosa location. This hybrid position is unique in that it combines supervisory responsibilities with hands-on bartending during tipped shifts. The Floor Supervisor role focuses on overseeing the operations of the Front of House to ensure smooth service flow, excellent customer interactions, cleanliness, and comprehensive beer knowledge are always upheld. You will play a key role in creating a positive and fun work environment, leading the team through effective communication and support.

The responsibilities include coordinating front of house staff, managing break periods, and stepping in to assist with bartending and floor duties as needed. You will also oversee side work assignments, handle customer complaints sensitively, and communicate important updates regarding policies, menus, and specials to staff members. Acting as a conduit between the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, and the team, you will advise on discipline when necessary to maintain company standards. Ensuring a safe and comfortable environment is pivotal, encompassing everything from managing lighting and music to opening and closing the pub.

Your leadership will extend to conducting shift meetings in the absence of senior management and assisting with inventory by managing beer and merchandise orders. While this role involves supervisory oversight of all pub employees on shift, it does not typically include regular direct reports. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of alcohol beverage laws, exemplary organizational skills, and the flexibility to adapt within a dynamic workplace. This position demands a high level of interpersonal skills, attention to detail, time management, and a collaborative mindset that fosters teamwork and enthusiasm.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5 years related experience in a restaurant/bar environment
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience or equivalent
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace

Job Duties

  • Coordinates all front of house employees to ensure smooth and efficient flow of the brewpub
  • Ensures all hourly employees are taking their rest and meal periods
  • Assists the floor and bar when necessary
  • Checks on customers to ensure they have a positive experience
  • Handles any complaints or issues with customers
  • Assigns side work to staff when necessary
  • Assists with comps and voids when applicable for the staff
  • Communicates relevant policy changes, menu changes, specials to staff
  • Advises the General Manager or Assistant General Manager if disciplinary actions should be taken for employees violating company policies such as tardiness
  • Maintains a safe and comfortable environment for employees and customers
  • Responsible for making sure the lighting, heating/AC, and appropriate music are on and at comfortable levels for employees and customers to ensure a pleasant atmosphere
  • Will open or close the pub depending on shift worked
  • Conduct daily shift meetings with staff in the absence of the GM or AGM
  • Perform nightly beer orders and/or weekly merchandise orders
  • All other duties as assigned
