Job Description

The hiring establishment is a retail company operating in the grocery sector, dedicated to providing fresh and quality products to its customers. This company prides itself on delivering excellent customer service and maintaining a well-organized, clean, and efficient sales floor. As a leader in the retail grocery industry, it invests in professional development and values a collaborative working environment.

The role of Floor Manager is a critical position within the store's floor department. Reporting to the Assistant Branch Manager or Branch Manager, this role is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines. The Floor Manager is responsible for receiving products, managing inventory levels, ensuring product shelves are consistently stocked, properly labeled, and clean, and providing exceptional customer service. This position requires overseeing employees such as Assistant Floor Managers, Floor Supervisors, and Stockers, ensuring that merchandise is rotated according to policy, scheduling staff, monitoring their performance, and enforcing discipline when necessary.

The Floor Manager plays a key role in training staff on their job responsibilities and safe operating procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Recruitment activities like interviewing candidates and recommending new hires also fall under their responsibilities. Additionally, the Floor Manager ensures compliance with HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) regulations by conducting regular inspections and audits.

A significant part of the role involves inventory management - reviewing daily inventory for rotation accuracy to prevent product shrinkage and damage, supervising product receiving and necessary paperwork, maintaining computer inventory accuracy through periodic physical counts, and coordinating product orders to optimize pricing, reduce spoilage, and manage stock levels efficiently. The Floor Manager also assures that pallets are properly tagged and stored, maintains cleanliness of the sales floor, ensures correct pricing and marketing signage, and coordinates logical merchandising layouts to maximize sales and customer satisfaction.

Besides operational duties, the Floor Manager performs weekly self-audits on perishable departments to maintain high standards. The role requires flexibility with schedules, sometimes needing to start early before store opening or work late to close the store and prepare for the subsequent business day. This full-time leadership position demands a combination of managerial skills, attention to detail, and a customer-centric focus in a fast-paced retail environment. Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to the company's values are essential to succeed in this role.
