The role of Floor Care Associate is a vital part of the Housekeeping Department at Riverview Health & Rehab. This position involves performing daily cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure all floor surfaces and related areas are kept in excellent condition in accordance with company policies as well as federal, state, and local regulations. The Floor Care Associate will be responsible for various cleaning activities such as sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, disinfecting, waxing, and buffing floors. The role requires attentiveness to detail, the ability to manage time effectively, and a proactive approach to maintaining supplies and reporting any facility or equipment issues. This position supports the overall health and safety of the community by creating a hygienic environment that residents, patients, staff, and visitors can rely on.

In addition to routine floor care, this job includes dusting furniture, window ledges, and high pipes, as well as cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms and other common areas. The Floor Care Associate will also handle spot cleaning of walls, doors, and registers, ensuring that these surfaces remain presentable at all times. The role may involve cleaning vacant rooms and maintaining equipment and supplies in proper working condition. Compliance with safety protocols and timely communication of any maintenance needs form crucial components of this role.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One (1) year experience in housekeeping is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of general cleaning, some knowledge or use of floor machines, burnishers, and carpet cleaners is preferred
  • Knowledge of care to various types of floors/surfaces and the appropriate cleaning materials and equipment to use is preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Job Qualifications

  • Utilizes effective time management skills
  • Sufficient education to demonstrate functional literacy
  • Prior floor care associate experience in an institutional setting is preferred

Job Duties

  • Thoroughly cleans designated floor areas by sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, disinfecting, waxing, buffing
  • Ensures that an adequate supply of floor care supplies is maintained
  • Dusts furniture, tables, window ledges, lights, beds, high pipes, and other areas as assigned
  • Cleans, washes, and disinfects bathroom sinks, toilets, tubs, showers, and floors
  • Spot cleans all walls, doors, table tops, windows, floors, and registers
  • Cleans vacant rooms as assigned
  • Ensures that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are in proper working order
  • Reports any damage or repairs needed to facilities, supplies, or equipment
