An EVS Supervisor manages a team comprising EVS technicians and aides, distributing work assignments, monitoring adherence to quality and safety standards, and directly engaging with staff through daily rounds. This role is pivotal in enforcing performance and conduct standards and acts as the primary escalation point for operational issues between frontline staff and senior leadership, including the Assistant Executive Housekeeper or Executive Housekeeper. The supervisor plays an integral role in workforce management, including managing attendance, shifts, and unexpected absences, and ensuring critical patient care areas, isolation rooms, and high-traffic public zones are serviced thoroughly and expediently.

Critical to the position is infection control oversight. The supervisor ensures compliance with CDC Transmission-Based Precaution procedures, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and correct handling of EPA-registered disinfectants in line with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and OSHA guidelines. The role requires close coordination with the NIH Infection Prevention and Control team and clinical staff to implement outbreak response protocols and other infection control directives.

Additionally, the EVS Supervisor is responsible for the training, coaching, and performance evaluation of EVS personnel, ensuring ongoing competency and adherence to best practices in cleaning and safety. This includes participation in monthly in-service training sessions, providing real-time corrective feedback, and contributing to annual performance reviews.

A specialized aspect of this role is supervisory responsibility over floor care operations. This includes managing hard floor care such as stripping, waxing, buffing, and burnishing, as well as carpet care, resilient floor maintenance, and specialized treatments.
