Job Description

The Salvation Army is a worldwide Christian movement dedicated to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and meeting human needs without discrimination. Founded on the principles of love and compassion, this organization operates in over 130 countries and offers various programs and services aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable populations. One of its key initiatives includes operating thrift stores that serve dual purposes: providing affordable shopping options to local communities and generating vital funding for the organization’s Adult Rehabilitation Centers. These centers help individuals overcome addiction and rebuild their lives, making the thrift stores a crucial component in sustaining the mission of The Salvation Army.

The Store Manager position at The Salvation Army offers an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team committed to "Doing the Most Good" in their communities. This full-time role, paying $21.00 per hour, involves leadership and operational responsibilities within one of the organization’s retail establishments. As a Store Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all facets of the store's daily operations including staff management, sales performance, safety compliance, customer service, financial handling, and reporting. Your role is vital in ensuring that the store runs efficiently and effectively while supporting the broader mission of serving those in need.

This position requires strong leadership skills as you will recruit, train, and supervise store staff while managing scheduling and payroll. You will also be tasked with implementing company policies to foster a positive employee relations environment. Additionally, you’ll develop and execute strategies that drive sales and enhance the customer experience, creating an inviting shopping atmosphere that encourages repeat patronage. Operational duties also include managing donation processes, product sorting, pricing, store maintenance, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and internal safety standards.

Financial management is another critical aspect of the role. You will oversee cash handling procedures and ensure accurate daily deposits, manage inventory tracking, and work within budget parameters to maintain profitability and support organizational goals. Reliable communication with regional managers and department heads is key, including providing daily reports on sales and production, as well as promptly addressing customer concerns. The Store Manager will also partner with the regional team to recruit and conduct personnel reviews, maintaining time and attendance records in compliance with current regulations.

This role suits someone who thrives in a mission-driven environment where professional development is encouraged, and where the work contributes directly to positive community impact. If you have a background in retail management, strong leadership and customer service skills, and a passion for making a difference, this position with The Salvation Army offers a rewarding career path with comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.
