Job Description

Intown Suites is one of America’s largest wholly-owned economy extended stay hotel brands, with a portfolio of 196 properties across 22 states. Founded in 1989, Intown Suites has established itself as a reliable and consistent presence in the hospitality industry, known for delivering high occupancy rates and sustained growth even in challenging economic times. The brand specializes in providing apartment-style suites equipped for extended stays, offering guests comforts such as full-size refrigerators, two-burner stovetops, and microwaves within their rooms. Recent renovations have upgraded many suites to premium accommodations featuring modern kitchens with enhanced convenience and storage, catering to guests who require longer-term housing solutions. Intown Suites shares its mission and operational standards with its sister brand, Uptown Suites, which offers an additional eight extended stay properties nationwide. Both brands place a strong emphasis on fostering an inclusive, diverse, and equitable workplace culture, employing over 1,400 team members dedicated to maintaining service excellence and hospitality innovation. Joining Intown Suites means becoming part of a dynamic team within a respected economy extended stay hotel chain, which values employee growth, stability, and a welcoming atmosphere for guests and staff alike.

The role of Floating General Manager at Intown Suites is a unique and demanding position that requires a seasoned professional with significant experience in the hotel and hospitality industry. This position entails overseeing operations at individual hotel properties on a temporary basis when the regular General Manager is unavailable due to off days, vacations, or other absences. The Floating General Manager will receive assignments directed by the Regional Operations Manager and in some cases, duties that encompass local marketing efforts, property staff training, and quality assurance improvements across various properties within the assigned market area. The role demands frequent travel—up to 90 percent of the time—within the market, often requiring overnight stays at different hotel locations. This travel-heavy schedule highlights the importance of adaptability, efficient time management, and the ability to maintain consistent operational excellence across multiple properties.

Key responsibilities include managing all facets of hotel operations, ensuring adherence to guest service standards, supporting recruitment and training activities for management and staff, driving sales through local marketing initiatives, and maintaining financial and budgetary controls to optimize profitability. The Floating General Manager is expected to be versed in front office operations, possess solid computer skills for managing property systems and reports, and have the capacity to handle multiple stressors at once while making prudent decisions that align with company policies and guest satisfaction priorities. This role also requires vigilance in identifying and addressing maintenance, life safety, and inspection concerns promptly while communicating effectively with the regional management team regarding any significant operational issues or guest feedback. Candidates for this position must bring a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and excellent communication skills in English, along with the ability to navigate the physical and mental demands of the job. The position offers an excellent opportunity for hospitality managers seeking a challenging yet rewarding role within a stable and expanding hotel brand, where flexibility, leadership, and a commitment to quality service are recognized and valued.
