Job Description

Airgas, an Air Liquide company, stands as a leading U.S. supplier specializing in industrial, medical, and specialty gases, along with hardgoods and related safety products. As one of the largest suppliers of ammonia products and process chemicals in the United States, Airgas has built a formidable reputation driven by a commitment to safety, customer success, and sustainability. With a vast network supported by 18,000 associates, the company fosters a culture that values innovation, diversity, and employee empowerment. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide, a global leader present in 60 countries with over 66,500 employees, Airgas operates on a global scale while maintaining a local focus on its customers and communities. This position is based in the state of Maryland, covering multiple retail locations in Halethorpe, Dundalk, Hyattsville, and Salisbury, emphasizing a flexible and dynamic approach to branch management.

The role of Floating Assistant Branch Manager at Airgas is pivotal in ensuring operational excellence across various branches. The position entails oversight of day-to-day branch operations, focusing on critical factors such as sales growth, budget adherence, gross margins, operating expenses, safety protocols, customer satisfaction, inventory management, equipment maintenance, and community relations. What sets this role apart is its floating nature, which requires the Assistant Branch Manager to operate seamlessly between multiple branches, providing leadership and operational supervision during gaps arising from vacations, training, or other absences. The role demands a proactive manager capable of juggling multiple responsibilities effectively while ensuring continuity and profitability at each location.

This position is full-time, primarily Monday through Friday during daytime hours, offering an hourly wage range of $27 to $30. Airgas supports its employees with comprehensive family-friendly benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance plans. The company also supports growing families through a 14-week paid childbirth benefit and offers future security via a 401(k) plan with company matching, tuition assistance, paid holidays, paid vacation, and sick leave benefits. Employees enjoy early access to these benefits after just 30 days of employment, demonstrating Airgas's commitment to employee well-being and work-life balance.

The Floating Assistant Branch Manager will actively contribute to managing retail store operations, enforcing compliance with operational standards, overseeing schedules, and collaborating with sales teams to develop and execute marketing plans targeting key market segments. Responsibilities include coordination of sales promotions, merchandising, and inventory management alongside ensuring outstanding customer service. The role requires managing vendor relationships, scheduling product training, and overseeing employee training programs related to safety and operational standards. This position is integral to managing financial elements such as daily cash reconciliation and working closely with corporate accounts to handle credits and collections.

Airgas is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace culture that embraces differences and values innovation and collaboration. The company welcomes applicants from varied backgrounds and provides reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. In joining Airgas, candidates become part of a workplace that not only supports professional growth but also encourages the expression of individual talents within a supportive and dynamic environment. This opportunity offers a meaningful chance to engage in a stimulating career where employees' contributions are recognized and rewarded, underscoring Airgas's reputation as an employer of choice within the industrial supply sector.
