The role of Truck Service Specialist is a pivotal leadership position within TA, responsible for overseeing the consistent execution of company standards and driving operational excellence across multiple locations in a designated region. The Truck Service Specialist collaborates closely with Group Managers and Truck Service Directors to manage staffing, training initiatives, and performance objectives, fostering a culture centered on accountability, safety, and professional development.

This hybrid role requires approximately 50-75% travel to various service locations, involving regular site visits to monitor operational standards, safety protocols, and quality assurance. Candidates must be prepared to engage in hands-on leadership and strategic oversight, leveraging Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to identify process improvements and support sustainable solutions company-wide. The role also entails coaching and mentoring team members, spearheading root cause analyses for operational challenges, and supporting financial goals by monitoring inventory and expense controls.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or equivalent hands-on experience in commercial vehicle repair, service management, or related industry
  • proven progressive leadership experience in truck service, fleet maintenance, or related industry
  • proven success managing multi-site operations and leading large teams
  • strong discernment including managing budgets, P&L, and operational KPIs
  • knowledge of root cause analysis tools and problem-solving techniques
  • excellent communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and operational understanding of POS software
  • travel requirement of approximately 50-75%
  • valid driver’s license

Job Duties

  • Partner with group managers to ensure locations have accurate staffing targets and assist with recruiting efforts as needed
  • support the development of team members by ensuring timely and accurate completion of training programs
  • coach and mentor employees to improve performance and prepare for future leadership roles
  • promote a culture of accountability, recognition, and professional growth across all assigned locations
  • monitor KPIs for assigned sites/region, identifying performance opportunities and partnering with operations to develop action plans
  • apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to identify process gaps and implement sustainable solutions
  • support project implementation release and stabilization, ensuring continuous improvement
  • facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action planning for quality and compliance issues
  • support value stream maps and Kaizen events through all stages
  • ensure consistent execution of company programs, policies, and procedures across all locations
  • conduct regular site visits to monitor compliance with operational standards, safety protocols, and service quality
  • maintain awareness of competitive practices, market conditions, and automation opportunities
  • support Truck Service Directors and Group Managers in achieving regional budget goals
  • monitor inventory levels, pricing compliance, and expense control measures to optimize profitability
  • ensure accurate and timely completion of required reports and financial documentation
  • champion a customer-first attitude by ensuring superior service and a clean, safe environment at all locations
  • actively solicit and incorporate customer and employee feedback to improve operations
  • analyze customer feedback and operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally
  • ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations impacting site operations
  • promote a culture of safety and enforce compliance with safety protocols
  • safeguard company assets, equipment, and inventory through loss prevention and audit policies
