With its humble beginnings at a single plant in Smyrna, Tennessee, SRM has grown exponentially to operate over 600 locations nationwide. This expansive growth is a testament to the company's dedication to quality, integrity, and exceptional service. As a national leader in the ready mix concrete industry, SRM Concrete plays a vital role in supporting construction, infrastructure, and development projects across the United States. The company's mission focuses on serving customers, communities, and team members with excellence, emphasizing a commitment to high standards every day, under all circumstances.

Joining the SRM Concrete team means becoming part of an organization that values hard work, respect, and teamwork. It fosters a supportive culture where every employee is recognized for their contributions and encouraged to uphold strong ethical standards both on the job and within the community. SRM prides itself on creating a straightforward, dependable work environment where team members feel valued and motivated to succeed.

The current opening is for the position of Fleet Mechanic, a critical role responsible for maintaining the operational readiness and safety of SRM Concrete's extensive fleet of vehicles and equipment. This fleet includes mixer trucks, loaders, dump trucks, tankers, and other heavy machinery essential for daily operations and timely project deliveries. As a hands-on problem solver, the Fleet Mechanic will be instrumental in ensuring these vehicles and equipment function reliably to meet demanding project schedules and safety regulations.

This role is ideal for individuals passionate about diesel engines and heavy equipment maintenance, whether they are seasoned diesel mechanics or newcomers eager to begin their careers in fleet maintenance. SRM Concrete provides comprehensive training and ongoing support to help every mechanic grow their skills and stay updated with the latest advances in diesel technology and repair techniques. The company emphasizes quality repairs, strict adherence to safety protocols, and effective teamwork within the workshop and on job sites.

Key responsibilities of the Fleet Mechanic include performing routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacements; diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues; rebuilding or replacing major components like engine heads, blocks, starters, and transmissions; and accurately documenting maintenance and repair activities using company systems. Collaborating with the operations team to schedule maintenance and minimize vehicle downtime is essential to keeping projects on track.

This full-time position offers competitive hourly pay with overtime compensation beyond 8 hours, along with eligibility for bonuses and annual raises. SRM Concrete's benefits package is comprehensive, featuring low-cost medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, and life insurance, paid holidays and vacation time, a 401k plan with an employer match, family days, and more. Importantly, the company maintains a strong work-life balance, with consistent local routes, no Sunday work, and a culture that supports employee growth and advancement.

Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and while vocational or technical certification in diesel engine repair is preferred, entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply due to the extensive on-the-job training offered. A valid driver's license is required, with a commercial driver's license (CDL) being a plus. Candidates must also be willing to work variable shifts and successfully complete pre-employment screenings.
