Job Description
SRM Concrete (Smyrna Ready Mix) is a family-owned company established in 1999, recognized as a national leader in the ready mix concrete industry. With a strong foundation built on quality, integrity, and service, SRM Concrete has expanded to over 600 locations across the United States. The company is deeply committed to serving its customers, communities, and team members with excellence, emphasizing every load and every day. SRM Concrete prides itself on fostering a work environment where hard work, respect, and teamwork are highly valued, creating a friendly yet professional culture that supports and recognizes its employees' contributions. This growth-oriented firm offers stable local routes, no Sunday work, and a supportive culture rooted in doing what is right both on the job and in the community.
The role of Fleet Mechanic at SRM Concrete is essential to maintaining the reliability and safety of the company’s vital fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. SRM Concrete’s fleet includes mixer trucks, loaders, dump trucks, tankers, and other essential machinery that power the company’s operations. As a Fleet Mechanic, your primary responsibility is to perform routine maintenance and inspections, diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and ensure all vehicles operate smoothly to meet demanding project schedules. Whether you are a seasoned diesel mechanic or a newcomer eager to start a career in fleet maintenance, SRM Concrete offers the valuable training and ongoing support needed to excel.
This position requires hands-on problem-solving skills and the ability to work with a variety of diagnostic tools and equipment. Maintenance tasks include oil changes, lubrications, filter replacements, and repairs or rebuilds of major engine components like starter motors, transmissions, engine heads, and blocks. You will collaborate closely with the operations team to schedule timely repairs and minimize vehicle downtime, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations both in the workshop and onsite. Keeping accurate maintenance records using company systems is also an important part of the role. Furthermore, SRM Concrete encourages continuous learning to keep up with the latest diesel engine technologies and repair techniques.
The company seeks candidates who are flexible and willing to work variable shifts to support fleet operations. While prior experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment technician is a plus, entry-level candidates are welcome to apply due to SRM Concrete's dedication to on-the-job training. A strong understanding or willingness to learn about diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and diagnostic technologies is highly valued. The ideal candidate is someone with great attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work effectively both independently and in team settings, and a firm commitment to safety protocols. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with vocational or technical certifications in diesel engine repair being advantageous. A valid driver’s license is mandatory, and a commercial driver’s license (CDL) is preferred. Candidates must also be willing to complete SRM’s pre-employment screening process.
By joining SRM Concrete as a Fleet Mechanic, you become part of a growing, respected company that offers competitive hourly wages with overtime, eligibility for bonuses, and opportunities for career advancement. The company's strong sales efforts ensure a consistent workload, and employees benefit from an extensive package of low-cost medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, and life insurance, along with paid holidays, paid time off, vacation, a 401(k) plan with a weekly match, family days, and more. SRM Concrete is more than just an employer — it is a team dedicated to building America's future and supporting individual growth within a dependable and caring organizational culture.
