The Fleet Mechanic role at SRM Concrete is essential for maintaining the reliability and efficiency of the company’s fleet comprised of mixer trucks, loaders, dump trucks, tankers, and other heavy equipment. This position is designed for hands-on problem solvers who enjoy working with diesel engines and heavy machinery, whether seasoned professionals or entry-level candidates new to the field. As a Fleet Mechanic, you would be entrusted with performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and repairing or rebuilding key components to keep equipment running safely and effectively.   • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • willingness to work variable shifts as needed to support fleet operations
  • willingness to complete SRM’s pre-employment screenings
  • entry-level candidates encouraged to apply with on-the-job training provided
  • valid driver’s license required
  • commitment to safety standards and protocols

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • vocational or technical certification in diesel engine repair is a plus
  • proven experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet mechanic, or heavy equipment technician is a plus
  • strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems is preferred
  • ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment
  • excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • commitment to safety standards and protocols
  • valid driver’s license required
  • CDL preferred

Job Duties

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines and equipment including oil changes, lubrications, and filter replacements
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in mixer trucks, loaders, dump trucks, tankers, and other heavy equipment
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues and determine necessary repairs
  • Rebuild, replace, or repair major components such as engine heads, blocks, starters, and transmissions
  • Collaborate with the operations team to schedule maintenance and repairs, minimizing downtime
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures in the workshop and on job sites
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work using company systems
  • Stay updated on the latest diesel engine technology and repair techniques through ongoing learning
