This position at US Foods is designed for experienced heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanics who are eager to contribute to a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment. The role entails troubleshooting, diagnosing, rebuilding, replacing, and completing all required repairs on a variety of diesel equipment including tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, and lift gates. This job offers a night schedule from Sunday to Thursday, 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM, with a competitive pay range of $36 to $45 per hour based on certifications and experience. The diesel mechanic will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance aligned with company standards and maintaining comprehensive documentation of repair orders, preventive maintenance lists, and parts accountability. The role requires handling road service calls, performing road rescues, and transporting equipment as needed. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment adhering to workplace safety rules, regulations, and government guidelines is a critical responsibility. Additionally, mechanics will manage inventory and recordkeeping, serve as backup for other maintenance personnel, and demonstrate willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibilities and certifications.
This job offers substantial physical activity including lifting heavy items up to 150 pounds with assistance, frequent standing and walking, and occasional climbing and bending. Skills in communication, teamwork, and multitasking in a fast-paced setting are essential. The ideal candidate has experience with diagnostic and troubleshooting processes using fleet maintenance software and complies strictly with EPA and OSHA regulations. Computer literacy and the ability to use technical and service manuals efficiently are a must, along with a valid driver's license and a high school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred qualifications include experience with JPRO software, welding skills, knowledge of electrical schematics, basic Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency, leadership experience, and valid Class A CDL and DOT certifications. EPA 608 certification is also a plus, particularly Type 2 or Universal. - Must furnish own personal hand tools

Job Duties
- Perform preventative maintenance within company standards

- Handle road service calls

- Keep track of assigned repairs by logging in and out of the Shop Fax system
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations and government guidelines

- Perform other duties as assigned
