The Operations Manager I position at Ryder is a crucial managerial role responsible for overseeing operations and personnel at locations managing up to 130 truck units. This leadership role involves managing Technicians-In-Charge, Customer Service Coordinators, and other team members to ensure the location meets or exceeds its business objectives. The Operations Manager I is accountable for balancing customer needs with financial, operational, quality, safety, and asset management targets, using established leadership competencies and business metrics to drive performance.
Located in Bloomfield, Connecticut, this first-shift, Monday through Friday role offers a salary between $80,000 and $85,000, paid weekly, and is bonus eligible. The Operations Manager I ensures that the location operates efficiently, adhering to company standards and procedures, including Standard Operating Procedures and Standard Repair Practices. This position may also serve as a developmental role to prepare individuals for further advancement to Operations Manager II.
Key responsibilities include optimizing labor and shift patterns to align technician hours with equipment availability, managing vehicle planning and scheduling, overseeing productivity tracking, and conducting operational meetings and reviews. The role also involves managing performance and development of personnel, recruiting, onboarding, payroll, and succession planning. The Operations Manager I acts as a key point of contact for customers, maintaining satisfaction, vehicle uptime, and retention through effective communication and adherence to service protocols.
Asset management duties include maintaining shop appearance, executing asset management initiatives, managing vehicle specifications and inventory, and coordinating with rental and parts teams. The position also leads quality assurance efforts, including inspections, root cause analysis, compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and continuous improvement initiatives. Financially, the Operations Manager I is responsible for managing budgets, costs, vendor relationships, payroll, invoicing, warranty processes, and ensuring data integrity in the shop management system.
This role requires strong leadership, communication skills, accountability, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and reporting systems. Prior experience in fleet management software and technical shop environments is preferred. Job Requirements

- two years or more experience in an operations environment or demonstrated success in a Ryder role
