The Operations Supervisor role at Ryder is an essential position within the maintenance operations group, located in Morrisville, NC. As an Operations Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in managing a shift at a specific location, overseeing a team that may include Technicians-In-Charge, Customer Service Coordinators, Technicians, and Service Employees. The role requires balancing customer satisfaction with financial, safety, quality, and operational objectives. These areas include responsibility for work analysis, technician assignments, warranty compliance, customer communication, shop and vehicle upkeep, quality inspections, managing expenses and budgets, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Effective communication, problem-solving, and vehicle diagnostics knowledge are highly valuable skills for success in this position. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Maintenance and technical experience in a shop environment required
  • 1-3 years or more experience in maintenance operations environment required or demonstrated success in a Ryder role may be substituted
  • Ability to manage personnel and operations
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work a 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM shift Monday through Friday
  • Willingness to adhere to safety and regulatory policies
  • Professional representation of Ryder

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred or 1-3 years experience in maintenance operations
  • Maintenance and technical experience in a shop environment required
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with shop management systems preferred
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills preferred

Job Duties

  • Manage workflow including work analysis, planning, scheduling and assigning work to technicians
  • Track and optimize productivity
  • Conduct shift and shop meetings
  • Review and approve work orders
  • Ensure warranty policies and procedures are executed
  • Triage unscheduled customer drive-ins and communicate with customers
  • Perform yard checks to prioritize and schedule work
  • Manage labor including training, development, and performance management of personnel
  • Handle customer relationship management including issue resolution, satisfaction, retention, and vehicle uptime
  • Ensure communication protocols for preventive maintenance scheduling and vehicle updates
  • Conduct customer visits as required
  • Oversee asset management including shop appearance, tooling and equipment recommendations, and vehicle specifications
  • Manage parts inventory and related policies
  • Conduct quality inspections and in-process reviews
  • Perform breakdown root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure cleanliness and repair quality
  • Collaborate with Service Manager for technician training and continuous improvement
  • Maintain safety and EPA regulatory compliance
  • Manage financial objectives including maintenance cost control, payroll, purchase orders, invoice and fuel reconciliation
  • Oversee customer bill back process and reporting
  • Maintain data integrity in Shop Management Online system
  • Perform other duties as assigned
