The Operations Supervisor role at Ryder is a vital position within the maintenance operations team at the South Plainfield, NJ shop location. As an Operations Supervisor, you will assist in overseeing daily operations and personnel on your assigned shift from 1:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Monday through Friday. You will supervise a diverse team including technicians, customer service coordinators, and service employees to ensure smooth workflow and high-quality customer service. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- associate's or bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
- maintenance and technical experience in shop environment
- supervisory experience preferred
- experience with shop management system
- intermediate Microsoft Office skills
Job Qualifications

- maintenance and technical experience in a shop environment required

Job Duties
- Manage workflow including work analysis, planning and scheduling
- assign work to technicians and track productivity
- conduct shift and shop meetings
- review and approve repair orders
- ensure execution of warranty policies
- manage triage of unscheduled customer drive-ins and communicate accordingly
- perform yard checks for scheduling and prioritization
- manage labor, provide training and development for staff
- handle performance management of assigned personnel
- manage customer relationships, resolve issues and ensure satisfaction
- communicate with customers on preventive maintenance scheduling and updates
- conduct customer visits as needed
- oversee asset management including shop appearance and tooling needs
- assist in vehicle specification and service processes
- manage parts inventory and policies
- perform quality inspections of maintenance and repairs
- conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions
- coordinate with service managers on technician training
- maintain shop floor activity control and quality
- implement quality assurance and continuous improvement programs
- ensure compliance with safety and EPA regulations
- manage financial goals including maintenance cost objectives and budget controls
- handle payroll, purchase orders, invoice and fuel reconciliation
- oversee customer bill back processes and documentation
- maintain data integrity in shop management systems
- perform other duties as assigned
