The role of Roadside Service Technician - Tow Truck Driver at AAA South Jersey is a dynamic, fast-paced position requiring responsive, skilled professionals who can effectively assist members in distress. This job involves operating a AAA-owned tow truck across a four-county territory in South Jersey to provide essential roadside services. These services include flat tire replacement, jump starts, lock-out assistance, air delivery for tires, gas delivery, and towing. Drivers are expected not only to operate their vehicles safely but also to diagnose and address various roadside issues to get members back on the road efficiently. Candidates with some background in automotive repair, mechanical knowledge, or towing experience are highly valued. This role demands strong customer service skills, the ability to navigate using GPS technology, and a commitment to safety, security, and quality standards. Flexible availability including nights, weekends, some holidays, and overtime is necessary, with holiday work compensated at higher pay rates. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 23 years old
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and all relevant state and local licensing
  • Knowledge of automotive repair and service techniques
  • Knowledge of towing procedures and practices
  • Ability to navigate using GPS
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Effective communication skills in writing, verbally, and via assigned technology
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 75 pounds
  • Physically able to drive assigned vehicle
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
  • Satisfactory pre and post employment screenings including criminal, drug, and motor vehicle checks
  • Agreement to submit to drug testing pre-hire, post incident, and periodically
  • Ability to pass a Department of Transportation or AAA South Jersey physical examination
  • Availability to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • Previous towing experience is a plus

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with a minimum of 3 years driving experience
  • Knowledge of automotive repair and basic mechanical skills
  • Familiarity with towing procedures and practices
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to operate GPS and related technology
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physical tasks
  • Clean driving record
  • Previous tow truck operation experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Operate a AAA-owned tow truck to provide roadside assistance
  • Respond promptly to service requests within Camden, Gloucester, Cumberland, and Salem counties
  • Perform services including flat tire replacement, jump starts, lock-out assistance, air delivery, gas delivery, and towing
