The Fleet Attendant position within the Automotive Services garage is an essential role focused on facilitating and assisting with daily tasks related to fleet vehicle management. This position requires the attendant to work in an automotive garage environment, often moving continuously throughout the day and occasionally working outdoors. Successful candidates will be responsible for greeting customers dropping off and picking up vehicles, coordinating the flow of vehicle services, and ensuring vehicles are appropriately staged, cleaned, and maintained to meet county standards. This role demands strong communication skills to update customers during repair processes, as well as organizational skills to maintain an orderly garage and parking areas. Additionally, the Fleet Attendant supports vehicle deliveries to and from third-party vendors and monitors fuel levels at onsite pumps to guarantee operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess basic computer literacy to operate necessary software, maintain effective teamwork, follow instructions independently, and hold a valid North Carolina driver's license, with a commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred. Job Duties
- Greet customers dropping off or picking up vehicles from Fleet and coordinate next steps for the customer's needs
- take vehicles to appropriate service bays and retrieve vehicles from parking for customers
- coordinate loaner vehicle issuance
- provide updates to customers waiting for repairs
- oversee movement of vehicles from service bays to parking areas under technicians' and supervisors' direction
- assist with delivering and picking up vehicles from third party vendors for repairs
- ensure cleanliness of county fleet by taking vehicles to local car washes and assessing motor pool vehicle cleanliness
- assist customers with miscellaneous needs such as changing wiper blades, EV charging stations, and onsite fuel pumps
- maintain a neat and organized garage service lane, outdoor parking, and staging areas
- monitor onsite fuel pump gasoline and diesel levels and alert office assistant when fuel orders are needed
- perform light duty maintenance as needed
- maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with North Carolina and DOT standards for commercial vehicle drivers if applicable
