Job Description

FOX Rehabilitation is a clinician-operated practice known for its commitment to delivering evidence-based care and fostering meaningful relationships within the communities it serves. With a deep mission to abolish ageism, FOX Rehabilitation stands out as a leader in senior wellness, blending clinical expertise with compassionate service. The company operates within senior living communities, in-home settings, and various care environments, providing tailored rehabilitation and wellness programs that prioritize independence, longevity, and quality of life. Positioned as a forward-thinking healthcare provider, FOX integrates a collaborative interdisciplinary approach involving physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, and fitness specialists to optimize the health and wellbeing of older adults. FOX Rehabilitation offers a supportive work culture that encourages provider-driven decision-making and professional growth, ensuring that every team member feels valued and empowered in their roles. The company’s culture emphasizes autonomy and innovation, giving fitness professionals the opportunity to significantly influence community health through personalized wellness initiatives and flexible care delivery models, including telehealth components.

The Fitness Specialist position at FOX Rehabilitation is a part-time role based in a Senior Living Community located in San Marcos, CA. This role serves as the primary wellness professional embedded within the community to lead group exercise, personal training, and partner training sessions designed specifically for older adults. The specialist's mission is to promote healthy aging, prevent falls, and enhance functional fitness among seniors by delivering evidence-based fitness programs. Working approximately 10 hours per week initially, there is substantial opportunity to increase hours and client caseload through active relationship-building and leveraging referrals from FOX’s skilled therapy team. The position currently involves instructing group classes such as boxing, yoga (alternating with boxing), and standing balance exercises primarily on Monday and Friday mornings.

As a Fitness Specialist, you will play a crucial role in promoting wellness within the senior living community by driving resident engagement, encouraging participation, and expanding the wellness program’s reach. Collaboration with FOX Physical and Occupational Therapists and Speech Language Pathologists is integral to the role, establishing trusted partnerships that support resident transitions from rehabilitation to wellness programs. Educating residents, their families, and decision-makers on the health benefits of participating in wellness activities is a critical component to increasing program awareness and sustaining growth. This dynamic position also offers the opportunity to expand services beyond the community, conducting house call sessions and broadening service territories. FOX Rehabilitation supports fitness specialists with administrative tools for documentation and communication, and values professionals who are comfortable utilizing technology like Microsoft Office and virtual platforms to enhance care delivery.

Joining FOX Rehabilitation means becoming part of a dedicated team where your expertise in exercise science or personal training can directly impact senior health outcomes. This role is ideal for exercise science graduates, certified personal trainers, or experienced fitness professionals passionate about creating supportive, engaging fitness environments for older adults. FOX offers a competitive hourly wage in California ranging from $21.50 to $27.50, with room for increased earnings linked to client growth and expanded hours. The position not only enables you to apply your skills in a meaningful way but also to grow within a community-focused practice that champions wellness, independence, and longevity for seniors. FOX’s commitment to diversity and inclusion creates an environment where every individual’s contributions are celebrated, making it a fulfilling place to build your career in fitness and senior wellness.
