Job Description
Performance Academies is a dynamic educational institution committed to shaping the leaders of tomorrow by focusing on educating the whole child. Our mission centers around building future-ready students through an innovative approach that combines rigorous academics, daily structured fitness routines, and intentional character education. As a high-performing educational organization operating K-8 and high school campuses, we are dedicated to fostering a safe, disciplined, and supportive environment where students thrive both intellectually and physically. Our core values—Knowledge, Strength, and Values—serve as the foundation for everything we do, guiding our efforts to cultivate strong minds and observant bodies, ultimately preparing students to lead with purpose and integrity.
Our holistic approach ensures that students not only excel academically but also grow into well-rounded individuals with a focus on fitness and character development. This unique educational model integrates physical education into the daily curriculum, emphasizing sports such as martial arts, tennis, and soccer to promote health, teamwork, and resilience. Beyond physical fitness, we prioritize moral education, teaching respect, responsibility, and teamwork as daily lessons reinforced by a structured uniform policy. This character-driven culture is essential in nurturing responsible citizens and future leaders.
As part of the Performance Academies team, you will be joining a passionate and closely-knit group of educators who believe that great schools are built by great teams. Collaboration is key here, with teachers regularly supporting and challenging one another, united by high expectations for student achievement and professional growth. Leadership at Performance Academies is highly visible and accessible, with a focus on coaching and responsive support to ensure each staff member can succeed and contribute meaningfully to our mission.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and student-centered Fitness Instructor to join our Toledo Preparatory and Fitness Academy campus in Toledo, Ohio. This role is essential in driving our whole-child educational philosophy by delivering engaging, state-standard-aligned physical education that inspires students to develop sport-specific skills, physical fitness, and healthy lifelong habits. You will have the opportunity to work in smaller, supportive classroom settings where personalized attention is the norm, enabling you to make a tangible difference in each student’s development.
As our Fitness Instructor, your responsibilities will include planning and delivering physical education lessons that include martial arts, tennis, soccer, and overall fitness activities. You will create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment, assess student progress, and maintain accurate records of their performance. Preparing students for fitness competitions and school tournaments will also be part of your role, helping to build their confidence and teamwork skills.
Beyond instruction, you will supervise students to ensure their safety and implement behavior management strategies in line with the school’s discipline policies. Collaborating with intervention staff, you will support students with individualized education plans (IEPs), 504 plans, and behavior plans. Your role is pivotal in fostering an inclusive environment that values respect and teamwork.
Additionally, you will manage the fitness space, including maintaining equipment inventory and assisting in school-wide events such as fitness competitions and supervision duties during lunch or bus times.
Performance Academies offers a comprehensive employment package that supports the health, wellness, and livelihood of our staff. We provide competitive salaries, participation in the State Teachers Retirement System (STRS), multiple health insurance options with significant company contributions, dental and vision insurance, company-paid life and disability insurance, voluntary supplemental insurances, generous paid time off, and scheduled holiday breaks. Our health benefits begin on the first day of employment, underscoring our commitment to our team’s well-being.
This is a full-time position with school hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including requirements to attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, conferences, and school events. If you are passionate about driving academic growth and fostering an inclusive, structured, and engaging learning environment, Performance Academies invites you to apply and join a team that is making a lasting impact in the lives of students every day. Become part of the best school in the neighborhood where your work truly matters.
