The role of a Fitness Club Receptionist at Planet Fitness is central to the member experience, acting as the first point of contact for members, guests, and potential new members. This position involves welcoming individuals as they enter and exit the club, assisting with membership inquiries, and ensuring everyone enjoys the inclusive Judgement Free Zone® atmosphere. The receptionist supports fitness goals by engaging with members on the floor and upholding club policies. Responsibilities include managing membership functions such as sign-ups, billing updates, cancellations, collections, and transfers. The receptionist also handles customer service duties such as answering calls, conducting outreach to prospective members, providing tours, processing retail sales, and addressing member concerns promptly.
Beyond customer engagement, the receptionist plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the facility. This includes sanitizing gym equipment, Black Card spa amenities, restrooms, and common areas according to schedule. The role demands vigilance in performing walkthroughs to identify and address safety, cleanliness, and policy compliance issues. Reporting facility maintenance needs such as broken equipment or leaks is also a key responsibility.
Ideal candidates will have 6-12 months of customer service experience and be at least 18 years old. They should be willing to complete CPR/AED certification provided by Planet Fitness, possess basic computer skills, and demonstrate a friendly, positive attitude with strong communication and empathy skills. Job Duties
- Welcome members and guests as they enter and exit assisting with any questions during check-in
- Promote the Judgement Free Zone® by engaging with members on the floor offering assistance and supporting their fitness goals while upholding club policies
- Address member issues promptly and escalate to management when necessary
- Answer phone calls courteously and assist callers with questions
- Manage membership functions such as new sign-ups billing updates cancellations collections and transfers
- Conduct outreach calls and provide tours to prospective members helping them find the right membership option
- Process retail sales accurately and contribute toward sales goals
- Clean and sanitize gym equipment Black Card spa amenities and shared areas according to established schedules
- Ensure restrooms are clean stocked sanitized and free of clutter
- Perform walkthroughs of the facility to promptly address safety cleanliness and policy concerns
- Report facility or maintenance issues such as broken equipment leaks or dispenser problems
