The position available is for a part-time Fitness Center Receptionist who will report directly to the Fitness Manager and play a vital role in the club’s fitness center operations. This individual serves as the first point of contact for members, guests, and staff entering the fitness facility, delivering warm greetings, accurate check-ins, and prompt assistance. The role demands a high level of professionalism and dedication to exceptional customer service, aligning with Berkeley Hall Club’s mission and vision. The receptionist promotes club amenities and programs, schedules fitness classes, personal training, and spa services while efficiently managing administrative tasks at the front desk, including billing and reservations via the Clubessential POS system. Attention to detail and a proactive approach are essential, as the receptionist also assists with maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the fitness area, reporting maintenance issues, and ensuring the overall positive experience of fitness center users. This role requires someone who is friendly, attentive, and capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment, ready to support the vibrant and active community lifestyle that Berkeley Hall Club offers.

Employment for this position is part-time with the necessity to cover weekends and holidays as needed. The fitness center operates from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday, and 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM on weekends. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Experience in a fitness center, spa, country club, or hospitality environment preferred
  • Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality
  • Intermediate computer skills including Outlook, MS Word, and Excel
  • Ability to use Clubessential Club Management Software preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Greet and sign in members and guests in a warm and friendly manner and address all members properly by name
  • To promote the facility amenities, programs, and the Club while maintaining a high level of professionalism and service that aligns with the Mission and Vision Statement of the Club
  • Answer telephones promptly and courteously and direct all calls to the appropriate areas
  • Make certain that members' requests or inquiries are satisfied
  • Provide members and guests with timely and efficient service(s)
  • Schedule members for classes, training sessions, and spa services
  • Contact members to update class or training session information
  • Confirm appointments
  • To create personalized service for members, including providing towel and water service while members are exercising
  • Perform administrative duties for the front desk, member/guest check-in, and reservations
  • Assist with billing of all personal training, massages, and classes during his/her shift through the Clubessential POS System
  • Maintain Spa & Fitness Center files
  • Perform open and close of business functions following guidelines and procedures established by the Club
  • Periodically inspect treatment rooms
  • Clean wet areas as necessary
  • Pick up weights and any dangerous items throughout the day in the workout room
  • Fill out repair form and report to the Fitness Manager any problems with exercise equipment and or maintenance issues
  • Communicate to the Fitness Manager pertaining to any problems with trainers, massage therapists, class instructors, members, and staff
  • Generate ad hoc reports on Fitness Center usage and trainer data
  • Attend all staff meetings
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds
