Job Requirements

  • Technical school certificate in hotel or institutional cooking
  • Minimum of three years' experience cooking in a large institutional setting
  • Ability to formulate recipes from pre-established menus and interpret the results of individual recipe procedures

Job Duties

  • Supervise distribution staff to ensure timely and accurate delivery of meals to patient care areas in Milstein, CHONY, outpatient areas, and all emergency departments
  • Oversee the sanitation team to maintain proper cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, dishware, and the overall kitchen environment
  • Assist in managing tray line assembly, preparing an average of 2,000+ trays daily
  • Lead food preparation and cooking in accordance with dietary guidelines and established recipes
  • Collaborate with dietitians and food service staff to meet patient-specific nutritional needs
  • Maintain food safety standards and kitchen cleanliness
  • Support inventory control, ordering, and training of junior staff
