The available Cook position at Hebrew Senior Life plays a vital role within the Culinary and Nutrition Department. This role involves preparing, cooking, and presenting food according to stringent quality standards, productivity targets, cost controls, and forecasted needs, to maintain the high standards expected by the organization. The Cook is responsible not only for food production but also for practicing proper sanitation and adhering to local, state, federal, and Kosher regulations when applicable. They ensure that meals served are safe, delicious, and meet dietary requirements, contributing significantly to the residents' overall satisfaction and health.

Working collaboratively under the guidance of the Jr. Sous Chef and Executive Sous Chef, the Cook ensures timely meal delivery and minimal waste, manages daily production sheets, and follows standardized recipes and portion controls. The role demands a solid foundation in kitchen safety, knife skills, and food handling. Employees are expected to demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, initiative, and a dedication to learning and improving their craft. This is a physical position requiring the ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and withstand temperature changes, reflecting the dynamic and fast-paced environment of a senior care culinary operation.

Scheduled from Sunday to Saturday with specific shifts, this full-time position offers a salary range between $40,104 and $56,145 annually. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum five years of cooking experience
  • ServSafe Certification required or must obtain within six months
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods and walk short distances
  • Capability of frequent bending and withstanding temperature changes
  • Ability to read, speak, and understand English
  • Willingness to work scheduled shifts Sunday through Saturday
  • Strict adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines

Job Qualifications
