The role available is for a Team Leader position within one of the store departments, reporting directly to the Group Sales Manager (GSM) or Department Manager (DM). This full-time role is key in overseeing daily departmental operations, including merchandise presentation, inventory control, pricing strategies, sales enhancements, stocking, and customer service activities. The position offers a competitive starting pay rate between $18.00 and $20.75 per hour. The Team Leader acts as a front-line supervisor, providing direction, motivation, and support to store associates to meet department goals and enhance the overall customer experience. In the firearms department, the Team Leader supports compliance with federal, state, and local laws including adherence to ATF regulations and company policies on firearm sales. This involves ensuring proper handling, safety, and operational standards among associates. Beyond compliance, the Team Leader aids in driving departmental sales performance, managing payroll, minimizing inventory shrinkage, and enforcing merchandising standards like planograms. The role includes responsibilities such as scheduling, coaching, interviewing, and participating in performance appraisals to build a capable and service-oriented team. The Team Leader also serves as a product expert, helping to maintain product knowledge across the staff and coordinating special events and promotions. They are accountable for delivering exceptional customer service by understanding customer needs, making informed product recommendations, and promoting club memberships and other store programs. The position requires independent judgment within company policies and broad guidelines, ensuring problem resolution while fostering a positive, harassment-free workplace. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 to 4 years retail sales experience
  • Supervisor experience preferred
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and percentages
  • Ability to read and analyze reports
  • Effective presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to conduct meetings and presentations
  • Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, data management, point of sale and inventory systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, associates, customers and corporate staff

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Support GSM and DM in leadership of firearm sales and compliance with ATF, state, local laws, company policies and procedures, including 4473, 3310, state and internally required firearm forms
  • Provide direction and guidance to sales outfitters in firearm safe handling, safety, operations, and customer experience standards within the firearms department
  • Support the GSM and DM in achievement of departmental sales, gross margin, inventory shrinkage and payroll goals
  • Provide daily direction to the associates within the department
  • Prepare to-do and task lists
  • execute all merchandising directives such as “Top 25 list”, “Extreme Savings” items, maintain all plan-o-grams as set by the corporate office
  • Ensure a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers
  • assist the GSM, DM and human resources manager to staff the department with “service” oriented associates, participate in interviewing and make recommendations for selection, coordinate training, consult with GSM and give input on preparation of performance appraisals, prepare weekly work schedules, coach and motivate associates to promote positive customer relations and a productive team-oriented work environment
  • Resolve customer and associate opportunities with GSM, DM and HR manager
  • Maintain a high level of personal customer service
  • achieve better than company average customer service results (surveys, secret shops, etc.)
  • Remain product “expert” through ongoing product knowledge training
  • conduct product demos to entire staff
  • assist the GSM and DM with coordination of all “Special Events”
  • maintain pricing and UPC integrity
  • determine proper assortments
  • accuracy of inventory
  • proper display, signing and pricing of all advertised items
  • Assist the GSM and DM in carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning and directing work, measuring and evaluating performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems, maintaining a positive, harassment free working environment for all associates
  • Provide a legendary experience for every customer, every time by assisting customers in making buying decisions by identifying and evaluating customers needs, making product recommendations based off of this analysis, promoting programs including but not limited to CLUB Membership, VOC and in-store pick-up
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
