Job Description
HFRC, LLC (HFRC) is a prominent industrial fire protection testing, service, and sales firm headquartered in southern New Jersey. Specializing in the protection of facilities that produce, handle, store, and distribute hazardous materials in bulk, HFRC offers a comprehensive suite of fire safety services nationally and internationally. Their expertise encompasses testing, inspection, and assessment of fire apparatus pumps and foam systems as well as facility foam and water-based fire suppression systems. Additionally, they specialize in the planning and evaluation of water supply systems with an emphasis on precision and quality. Beyond testing and consulting, HFRC also provides sales and services for specialized firefighting equipment including water supply appliances, fire pumps, foam systems, hose and hose recovery systems, and remote-operated firewater monitors. Their commitment to safety and excellence positions them as a leader in the fire protection industry.
HFRC is currently seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join their team as a full-time Fire Protection Technician (FPT) based in Medford, New Jersey (Greater Philadelphia area). This role is designed for an entry-level professional who is passionate about fire protection and eager to grow within a supportive environment. The FPT will work both independently and collaboratively alongside engineers and consultants to ensure the highest standards of fire safety are met. Responsibilities include inspection, testing, maintenance, and repairs of foam systems, high-volume industrial fire water systems such as hydrant flow and fire pump testing, and various firefighting equipment like apparatus and remote-operated firewater monitors. The role demands thorough assessment skills, with duties involving manual calculations and the use of Excel spreadsheets to evaluate water-based fire protection systems.
Beyond technical responsibilities, the Fire Protection Technician will assist with emergency response assessments and planning, support investigations of fire and explosion scenes, prepare reports, and undertake administrative tasks. Candidates will benefit from a dynamic work environment that requires physical mobility, mechanical aptitude, and strong communication skills to interface with clients, subcontractors, and code officials. This position requires on-site work with no remote options, emphasizing hands-on involvement in field operations. Travel is expected to be 25-30% annually predominantly within the continental United States, with occasional international assignments. Candidates must be prepared to meet safety and regulatory requirements including obtaining a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), valid driver's license, and DOT medical clearance.
HFRC operates under rigorous safety protocols, especially regarding substance use, with mandatory drug screening and background checks. The company prohibits cannabis use and enforces strict compliance with client-mandated policies. The compensation package offered by HFRC is competitive and includes health and dental insurance, holiday, vacation and sick leave pay, a 401(k) plan, an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and year-end bonus potential. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Baker Engineering and Risk Consultants, Inc. (BakerRisk), HFRC aligns with an organization renowned for advanced risk assessment and mitigation technologies for catastrophic events worldwide. BakerRisk’s commitment to technological innovation and safety excellence enhances HFRC’s industry leadership and provides an excellent opportunity for career development within fire protection and risk management fields.
This position is ideal for candidates with a background in firefighting, fire protection equipment testing, or similar fields, aspiring to advance their technical skills and contribute to critical safety operations. Candidates will work in a safety-conscious environment that values teamwork, professional growth, and high-quality service delivery to a diverse range of industrial clients. HFRC prides itself on being an Equal Opportunity Employer, fostering an inclusive workplace respectful of diversity in race, color, religion, age, gender, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, national origin, or other protected statuses.
