The Fire Alarm Technician position at Summit Fire & Security is designed for a highly skilled professional who specializes in the installation, troubleshooting, servicing, and repair of fire alarm and security systems along with other critical fire and life safety products. This role requires an individual with significant specialized experience, including a minimum of NICET II certification, with NICET III or IV preferred, alongside specific certifications such as Seattle FA-01 (EL01 or EL06). Candidates must possess at least four years of relevant experience with a strong preference for those familiar with EST fire alarm systems. The technician will work with minimal supervision, utilizing advanced tools and equipment to maintain and enhance the safety systems that protect lives and property. Responsibilities also include maintaining detailed documentation, adhering to safety protocols, and professional communication with customers and internal teams. Additionally, the role requires a readiness to respond to emergency service requests as part of an on-call rotation. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • nicet ii certification minimum nicet iii or iv preferred
  • seattle fa-01 certification el01 or el06
  • 4 plus years of fire alarm experience with preference in est system expertise
  • ability to use test equipment and programming software
  • excellent communication skills in english
  • valid driver's license with good driving record
  • ability to follow safety programs and procedures
  • must be punctual and reliable
  • willingness to participate in on-call emergency service
  • able to travel 90 percent locally
  • comply with drug and alcohol policy
  • pass background screening

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • nicet or state specific certification preferred
  • 2 years fire life safety industry experience specifically in fire alarm required
  • nicet level 1 fire alarm certification required
  • 2 years professional computer skills preferred
  • ability to effectively read write and communicate in english
  • 2 years using business intelligence systems sage 300 cre or similar preferred
  • valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • must comply with drug and alcohol policy and background screening
  • able to travel 90 percent locally

Job Duties

  • install troubleshoot service and repair fire alarm and security systems
  • use required tools and test equipment such as multi-meter megger laptop and lifts
  • perform programming and software operations for fire alarm systems
  • diagnose faults including ground faults in fire alarm systems
  • repair or replace damaged fire alarm components like FACP power supply and alarm-initiating devices
  • follow safety procedures when handling explosive actuators such as squibs and gas cartridge actuators
  • communicate professionally with customers and monitoring companies
