It offers numerous opportunities for professional growth, including hosting Recognized Apprenticeships, on-the-job training programs, and supporting continued education and certification advancement such as NICET. Employees are encouraged to grow their careers within a high-growth, dynamic environment that values initiative, independence, and diversity.
The Fire Alarm Technician position at Summit Fire & Security plays a critical role in installing, troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing fire alarm and security systems along with other fire and life safety products. This role demands minimal supervision and requires a strong foundation in various fire alarm systems, particularly EST system expertise. Ideal candidates must hold a minimum of NICET II certification, with NICET III or IV preferred, as well as Seattle FA-01 (EL01 or EL06) certification and at least four years of related experience. The technician is responsible for applying a comprehensive knowledge of fire alarm codes and standards, using the appropriate tools and test equipment such as multi-meters, meggers, and programming software to maintain and repair fire protection systems. Safe handling and replacement of explosive actuators like squibs and gas cartridge actuators is also fundamental. The role also requires excellent communication skills to professionally interact with customers and offsite monitoring companies, punctuality, meticulous record-keeping using Field Service Lightning, and consistent adherence to safety programs and policies. Fire Alarm Technicians may be placed on an on-call status to handle emergency service requests, underscoring the critical nature of their role in life safety.
Summit Fire & Security fosters a culture of operational excellence, integrity, partnership, and passion for life safety, encouraging its employees to be leaders in fire protection services. The company supports ongoing learning through seminars and training sessions that keep technicians updated on the latest technology, codes, and standards changes. Those in this position also have opportunities to train service technician trainees, expanding their leadership and mentoring skills. This role offers tremendous growth potential within a reputable company that values safety, professionalism, and quality. Summit Fire & Security is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and a drug-free workplace, ensuring a respectful and safe environment for all team members. The benefits package offered to eligible employees includes paid vacation and holidays, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, flexible spending accounts, employer-paid long-term and short-term disability, life insurance coverage, employee assistance programs, and employee referral incentives. With competitive pay, bonus opportunities, and an industry-leading benefits package, this is a compelling career opportunity for motivated individuals who want to make a difference in fire protection and safety.
