Job Description
Cedarfield is a distinguished senior living community located in Richmond, recognized as a Top Richmond Workplace for seven consecutive years. This accolade highlights Cedarfield's commitment to providing an exceptional environment not only for its residents but also for its team members. The company prides itself on fostering a culture where age does not define the individual, focusing on autonomy and self-direction for residents living in cottages, apartments, assisted living, memory support, or nursing residences. Cedarfield's mission, "Enriching Life's Journey," is at the heart of all their services, ensuring that the care and attention given to residents promote dignity, respect, and quality of life. The community is built around core values that include Culture, Stewardship, Partnership, Diversity, Hospitality, and Quality, creating a supportive and engaging atmosphere for both residents and staff alike.
Cedarfield is currently seeking a part-time Server to join their dining services team. This role involves working 20 hours per week, primarily during the 4pm to 9pm shift, with some weekend and holiday work required. The Server will be tasked with delivering a fine dining experience to residents, assigned to a specific dining room section. The position demands a high level of professionalism and productivity, ensuring resident satisfaction from the moment they are seated until they leave. A key aspect of the job is anticipating and addressing potential issues before they arise, which requires attentiveness and excellent customer service skills.
In this role, servers will handle all aspects of dining service, which may include plating food, ensuring the quality and temperature meet the establishment’s standards, and providing attentive service in a fine dining style. Additionally, the Server will assist with dining room setup, routine cleaning, and support special functions, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork. The role also involves using personal computers and handheld devices to enter food and beverage orders, making computer literacy an important skill. Servers should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and engaging with older adults, as they will be interacting daily with residents who may have diverse needs, including those with dementia.
Cedarfield offers a welcoming and inclusive work environment where employees can thrive and grow. The position includes opportunities for training and development, including assisting in the training of other servers as requested by management. As part of the team, the Server will work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, holidays, and sometimes inclement weather, reflecting the nature of service in a healthcare-oriented hospitality environment. The company also emphasizes a commitment to safety, cleanliness, and high standards of service delivery.
Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and preferably at least one year of experience serving in an upscale dining venue. The role requires vitality and physical stamina, such as the ability to lift up to 30 pounds, extensive walking, carrying, bending, and standing. Employees must maintain neatness and cleanliness at all times and be prepared to handle sensory challenges posed by typical healthcare settings, including exposure to various sights, sounds, and odors.
As a benefit, Cedarfield offers double-time pay during designated holidays, eight federal holidays off including Martin Luther King Day and Juneteenth, paid personal time, free parking, and access to programs like PayActiv for paycheck advances and an Employee Assistance Program. Referral bonuses and additional benefits for employees averaging more than 30 hours per week are also part of the comprehensive benefits package.
Cedarfield requires that employees comply with company-wide vaccination policies that mandate full vaccination against the annual flu, subject to accommodations for medical or religious reasons. This commitment underlines Cedarfield’s ongoing dedication to the health and safety of its community and staff.
