Job Description
Ryder Last Mile is a leading logistics and transportation company specializing in final mile delivery services. Known for its innovative and customer-centric approach, Ryder has expanded its operations to include a robust network of independent contract carriers focused on delivering and installing a variety of commodities. With multiple strategic hubs across the United States, Ryder caters to a diverse range of clients, ensuring timely and professional delivery services that meet high standards of quality and care. Operating within the growing e-commerce and retail sectors, Ryder Last Mile plays a critical role in connecting businesses with their customers by providing reliable, white glove delivery and installation services.
The role being offered is for contract carriers interested in joining Ryder Last Mile's expansive final mile delivery network. Currently, there are three key route opportunities available in different regions, each focusing on specific delivery commodities. The Edison Hub route primarily handles furniture and appliance deliveries, including complex appliance installation. The Dayton route focuses on furniture delivery and installation for Williams-Sonoma, a renowned name in home furnishings. Lastly, the Philadelphia Hub route covers deliveries and installations of furniture, appliances, and exercise equipment. This diversity in route options allows carriers to select assignments based on their location and availability, providing flexibility and the potential for steady work.
As a contractor in this role, carriers are expected to provide in-home delivery with white glove assembly service, ensuring that all products are installed properly and customers receive exceptional treatment. The service model requires operation as a two-person team, ensuring efficiency and safety during delivery and installation. Compensation is competitive and is dependent on the number of daily routes completed by the team. Being contract-based offers carriers significant autonomy to manage their business operations while benefiting from an established customer base and consistent route assignments.
The opportunity comes with numerous advantages, including weekly settlements and 7-day payment terms, a notable benefit for managing cash flow. Additionally, contractors receive discounts on Ryder truck rentals, which can help reduce operational costs. Ryder’s established customer base and consistent route availability provide carriers with high growth potential within the final mile delivery market. Contractors are essential in maintaining Ryder’s reputation for reliability and high-quality service, as they directly impact the customer's experience during delivery and installation. This role is ideal for those with experience in final mile delivery, an entrepreneurial spirit, and the ability to operate as an LLC or corporation while meeting all regulatory and insurance requirements required by Ryder.
