The Production Operator position at AkzoNobel is an entry-level role typically held by newly hired employees until they are assigned to open positions through the union bidding process, specifically for more senior employees. This role is an hourly position and requires union membership with Teamsters Union Local 284. The Production Operator supports various areas of the facility including General Labor, Filling, and Paint Operator roles, contributing to the seamless operation of manufacturing and production workflows. The position demands a high level of physical activity including lifting materials up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and moving across production areas that may require stair climbing.

This role is crucial in maintaining the factory's operational efficiency and adhering to stringent safety and quality standards. Operators must follow written instructions carefully, handle chemicals safely by using appropriate personal protective equipment, and operate manufacturing equipment such as lift trucks and transfer pumps. Attention to detail is vital as operators are responsible for filling containers accurately, conducting cleanliness checks on paint samples, and maintaining proper housekeeping of all work areas. The ability to read and interpret batch tickets, quality control sheets, and safety data demonstrates the technical nature of the job. Working shifts with differential pay and having opportunities for career growth further enhance the appeal of this position to individuals seeking a stable, union-supported job in a globally recognized organization. AkzoNobel also values diversity and inclusivity, ensuring a respectful workplace where all employees can thrive regardless of background or identity.
